and considering that fear 3 will most likely just be a console port it won't be possible to do the only thing that made fear great and thus it will fail hard
I'm sure you can stuff scares and ghostly enemies into a co-op setting, but I can't see how the traditional 'Fear' narrative really works in that style. I guess ye old marketing dept. dug up player info to support changing the game-play, but I would have thought most 'Fear' fans would have preferred this to stay a SP-focused game.
I spent far too long on the multiplayer of the first game, only to be bitterly disappointed by number 2.
