Fire at will. Fire at will.
We've been keeping an eye on the Fatal Frame IV fan translation for some time now. It's finally done, so go get the 376mb English language patch for this Japanese-only Wii game. This bad boy runs off your SD card, so no fancy trickery is required. In fact, the only trickery you'll need is scraping up enough cash to import the game from Japan.
I cannot wait to give this a spin. Our hats off to the translation team for all their work. I'd say that Fatal Frame fans are pretty loyal people in general. I adore the series, so I'm very happy that these people took the time out of their lives to make this for fellow fans.
Also keep your ears open for the related fan dubbing project we told you about earlier.
[Thanks, MegaStryke]

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
And, a fandub project is on? Can't wait!
It loads the patched files on the fly, just place the files in the the root of your sd card, and follow the instructions on the website. The patch doesn't work on backups in it's current state, but if you know how to use wiiscrubber the instructions for replacing the game files on the iso with the translated one's can be found here.
Because...they're Nintendo.
@WormFOODx
It uses Bannerbomb to go through a hole in the Wii's OS to install the patch to the internal memory from an SD card. You can also load it through the Homebrew Channel if you have that installed. If you want the patch wiped from the Wii completely, you just need to load it up and choose to uninstall it. It'll be like it never existed.
It uses banner bomb, an exploit that is also used to install the homebrew channel. It is very likely an update could prove banner bomb useless but not like the wii hacking community won't have it working again in a matter of hours.
Is there a way I can? Because I'd go crazy importing some games.
Install HBC, Get Gecko OS.
As for Fatal Frame though this translation patch makes the game region free as well, but if your interested in region free gaming in general, HBC, Gecko OS.
Read my previous post I included a link on how to patch the iso directly.
You can do what Chronos said to run imported games on the Wii, but for this particular one, you don't even need to do that much.
A few rogue contributers basically localize this game in a couple of months for free but Nintendo won't bother to assign like TWO staff members to translate an already complete game for release in America.
I guess fans do what NintenDON'T.
Well done, fan-patchers. You should be payed a living wage for your awesomeness.
I'm firing! I'm firing!
Anyway, sounds decent, but I'm not that big on Fatal Frame. I'll check it out eventually.
Okay, I guess you have a point there. :P
