Here is a trailer for Ghost Camera, a new horror game for the 3DS. It's being made by the same team responsible for Fatal Frame and published by Tecmo Koei.
The name gives you a big enough clue as to what this game entails -- using the 3DS' camera to hunt for spooky shenanigans in the real world. These kind of augmented reality experiences always interest me, but I'm waiting for one to truly provide a great gaming experience.
This looks like it would be a pretty spooky game when played in the dark, walking around the house, but then the camera wouldn't be able to see anything. What this game needs is an adjustable flashlight attachment that clips onto the 3DS itself. You know it makes sense.

Meet the rest of the team
I seem to remember this or something like it being shown a few months ago and it coming off completely goofy. I'm hoping its not this game though, a AR fatal frame-esque game would/should be awesome.
I'm not very fond of the new technology kids have these days, and not very fond of gimmicks either, but after watching the video, i have to admit it looks interesting, with potential to be really good... and not to mention i love old school survival horror and Fatal Frame.
Isn't it a Fatal Frame spin off??? It looks too similar to be a different game, whatever the case, i know some people who would drop their 3DS a few times while playing it.
I really hope this works. Dicking around with the AR games yesterday made me think of this exact concept. Good to see they're trying to integrate the gyro camerary wotsit
Looks like some of the best use of the DS camera and AR functions so far.
However the quality they show is NO WHERE NEAR what the DS actually has.
Rememer its really cruddy 0.1 mega pixels, or something dead low like that, I'm not sure.
Still, it really hurts good games like this :/
Though I'd make a well lit room just to play this game xD
I think a game like this would only work if they went meta all the way and aknowledge the title was a videogame, but implied the game itself was haunted. I surely hope the trailer didn't say that because I don't speak Japanese and I'd sound stupid. DURR
It's looking great, though its a shame they really had to name it Ghost Camera. I totally get that it's a nitpick and doesn't really matter, but that screams, "We wanted to make a Fatal Frame game for the 3DS but for some reason we couldn't call it that so we'll call it a lamer name that's the same thing." Regardless, it looks like its coming along pretty good.
@booming: you.might be thinking of the hidden. Goofy and b movie-ish, but worth scraping the bargain bin for imo. Reviewers hated it though. It makes you leave the house to hunt for ghosts.
Also, this had better be coming to the US. There was such a huge backlash for Nintendo not bringing Fatal Frame 4 here, and they have to have seen the import numbers going through the roof once the fan translation was finished.
Seems a lot like Fatal Frame but with augmented reality. Which is cool, the graphics aren't great, but then again this is a handheld that can't even make games look as good as Dreamcast. Still, this is the gaming idea that would be a system seller for me.
This game kinda intrigues me with its application of the 3DS's AR and gyroscope functions. I doubt NoA will localize this game, based on Fatal Frame IV's lack of availability in the US. What a damn shame. :(

This may be a small detail, but Ghost Camera is published by Nintendo of Japan. In regards to its developer, it's either Tecmo/Koei or Grasshopper Manufacture, I think.

What makes you skeptical of 3DS's graphical capability? It is definitely stronger than the GameCube.
Holy hell, the 3DS shows you ghosts INSIDE your house?? Ok that's it I'm out of here! I pissed my pants with Corpse Party and its pixeled art, this trailer alone is already putting me on edge!
This is looking like a great game taking full advantage of the AR and camera system; I normally wouldn't play horror games even though I love the stories and whatnot, but this seems to be one of those games you need to experience first hand. Dammit FF Team making awesome things!
Guys. Stop talking about this. Be Nintendo of America-pretend this game, and this franchise, doesn't even exist. Fatal Frame IV never happened. This never existed. The Wiimake of 2 will never happen.
;-; This used to be my favorite series. At least that patch was just fantastically done. Goodnight, sweet prince....

Use the game whilst in the toilet for extra lulz.
