Fashionably late: Modern Warfare 2 now has a demo photo

Better late than never? As of this week, Modern Warfare 2 now has a single-player demo. It went live yesterday on PlayStation Network and hit Xbox LIVE earlier today (download link).

You can probably understand why Infinity Ward didn't do this prior to the game's launch last November. Modern Warfare 2 is something of a known quantity at this point, and putting together a demo would've been time away from active development.

Still, why now? Are the add-on maps to blame? At any rate, I say download the demo if you aren't necessarily into "war games" or even first-person shooters. The "Cliffhanger" level -- a good example of MW2's thrill-ride-style design -- is playable in full.

Oh I've never heard of this game before! I am glad there is a demo out so I can learn more about this game and perhaps purchase it in regards to the quality of said demo experience.

I hope I enjoy my time with this new game!

(I had to stare as my PSN screen to seriously believe that there is NOW a demo out for this game)

Well, obviously from the screenshot it is an ice climbing simulator.

Presumably the title "Modern Warfare" refers to the modern man's struggle with identity, discovered through conquering the doubt and fear in oneself on the mountain.

the single player campaign is the worst part of this game..... It was a huge letdown from what we saw on MW1..

Instead of downloading this trainwreck, it's bets to just purchase MAG straight up and have fun.

Funny, I thought the single player campaign was the only part of the game worth playing, personally.

Yes, because people should experience the emotionless, faceless, thrill ride known as the MW2 singleplayer, which is less coherent and more ridiculous then Drake and the 99 Dragons.

They should of shaved off the price for those who only want to play it's multiplayer, because the majority of players take that over co-op and Spec-ops. Like, perhaps, 15 bucks off.

When I first saw this on PSN yesterday I thought it must've been a preview of multiplayer DLC or something. They wouldn't really release a singleplayer demo this late would they? I guess they didn't make enough money yet being one of the biggest games in history and all.

@Mithrot; But you know Bobby Nodick would raise the price back up to beyond-average, single player or not.

Oh, and ahem. WAI NO PC VERSION I WANT CLIMB ICE NAO PLOX SO I CAN GO "OMG I WNAT 2 BUY THIS GAEM" AND GIEV BOBBY KOTICK WHO I LOVE LOTS ALL MY MONEY. PC GAEMING IS DYING AND DIS IZNT HELPING

Obviously this demo is in response to the release of "The Guild 2 - Renaissance", the medieval life simulator. Activision could feel the burn and needed to pull no punches.

Well played Activision.. well played.

They probably want to demo to people who haven't played it because they read about it on the net and think it sucks, when in reality it's a fun game in all aspects. They can also attract people to the single player which is very good.

Yet again they ignore the PC?

What a fucking surprise
Spaz's Avatar - Comment posted on 08/04/2010 19:10

@topperfalkon: They ignored the pc for four reasons.

1. most pc players are to busy playing starcraft 2 or BFBC2.
2. They already know its shit.
3. steam lets people play the multiplayer for a weekend or something like that for free. So those people already know its broken.
4. PC people pirate it if they just wanted the single player. I'm against piracy but I honestly don't blame them.

Does the demo last 2 seconds long, and then Bobby Kotick appears on screen, dressed as a robber?

So they're pursuing the very few who haven't bought this game. I believe in military jargon this would be 'mopping up'.
