FarmVille remains popular, more than 80 million users photo

Zynga Games' FarmVille continues to grow despite its age. New statistics from All Facebook.com indicate that the Facebook game is "about to surpass" the 80 million active monthly user mark -- a growth of 10 million since December. A quick glance at AppData.com tells us that (a) line graphs are boring and (b) confirms that FarmVille broke the 80 million barrier this afternoon.

We're having a hard time thinking about this staggering number. Imagine having sixteen graham crackers sitting in front you. Triple that. Triple it again and see the wobbly tower that forms. Now think 80 million graham crackers, and then, imagine those graham crackers as old women in front of computers. Staggering!

Sad day for gaming. I hare Farmville and the annoying bullshit I get on my page because of it. Thankfully you can block it. Otherwise I might have lit myself on fire.

Everyone plays it because it's got that Animal Crossing appeal, and I think it was the first of the Zynga games to hit FB.

I wish there was a way for me to go to peoples farms in farmville and sacrifice their livestock to a pagan god.

Well... it probably wont help DToider's spirits knowing we have FarmVille cards being stocked in our stores now, along with Mafia wars... my co-worker really asked "So that's actually a legitimate thing now?" Sad indeed.

My Mom is addicted. Addicted. It's very eerie for ME to be chiding HER daily for becoming too wrapped up in a shitty videogame. It's painfully ironic and very hypocritical of me, I know. Maybe I ought to suggest BioShock to her.

Yes, sad because Farmville is popular. Oh well, just one thing I'm unhappy about now. Previously, it was Haitian being alive in their stupid fucking unruined buildings not destroyed by blessed holy earthquakes.

I only dislike Farmville because it, along with every other related app, group and fan page insist on spamming the frigging bejeezus out of my Facebook wall. Farmville is a great example of why app notifications should be opt-in, not opt-out.

I tried to play it, but I just found it boring.

Oh well, looking at how many people are addicted to it, it's a good thing that I don't enjoy it.

I can't be the only person here who played the original farming game: Simfarm.

It was kinda fun.

"These 80 million people are sad. If only us enlightened people could show them."

THERE we go.

Many of my friends whose parents have a Facebook use it to play games. Farmville is the most popular one amongst the 40+ East Asian crowd. That and mahjong.
