i really hope then when this is finished it doesnt have so many forced camera movements like in this trailer. those always bother me when its a first person perspective.
I wouldn't worry about it too much. It'll probably just be like Skyrim's one-off cinematic intro. (though I guess Far Cry 3 probably will be a bit more cinematic, but whatever. As long as it doesn't take over, a bit of that sort of thing can be quite cool)
I think adding these "forced" moments into an open world game that has already shown open-ended gameplay is nothing but a great thing. Fuck the haters, there is no negative take on this, it just means more variety and more oomph.

The voice acting does feel kind of weak.
If you need someone to cough, then have a smoke. Voice actors need to be willing to go above and beyond to hit the mark.
The voice coach for Pixar's The Incredibles made the actor for Dash do laps of the studio to get him to actually be out of breath for scenes where Dash was running. You can't fake being out of breath.
Just like this, faking coughing will sound just like that, fake.
Maybe I'm spoiled these days, having grown up with games like Resident Evil you'd think I'd have more tolerance for bad voice acting... But I don't. It kills the immersion. In cases where the VA is bad, I'd rather them just use text to be honest.

Those tacky tattoos on his arms are a real distraction, otherwise I'm quite excited for this! Was anyone else hoping he'd save Lisa before the trailer reached the end?
actually i think it's great to have those more scripted and linear moments in open world games especially if this game tell good story and isn't just collection of fetch quest with some vague "hero saving the world" crap that can be fit on one sheet of paper.

Also, I thought it was nice of Ubisoft to think of the needs of the hearing impaired. If the protagonist hadn't dictated everything he was doing aloud, the blind would have had no idea what was going on.
Joking aside, I'm sure this is just a hype-block in the Game Advertisement Playset, but I just find it hard to get excited about anything with this kind of focus anymore. The market is so saturated with it that it oozes into novel, comic book, and animated feature territory as well. I heard Far Cry 2 was good, but I can't play it on consoles because of that fucking accelerating cross hair (goddamn it, is it too hard to ask for the option to have my reticle go exactly where I want it at the speed I want it to without it shooting around the screen like grandma in her Buick?). I should pick it up on PC now, but it'd probably fade into the ether that is my backlog.

Hopefully they will go the same effort as farcry2 did on pc as that did look quite good for its time, (same effort is not same graphical level but same level compared to what is technically possible on modern pc's

I'm really looking forward to this game, but this trailer makes me worry this guy will be another Drake clone. I was expecting a more serious story, not a first person uncharted.
Looks like a B grade console fps shooter to me, shame to see what Far Cry has become.

Have to admit that for a gameplay trailer, this really didn't show any of the things I loved about far cry 2.. the open world is great but more specifically, i fell in love with the open-ended gameplay that made me feel like i always made my own decisions based on environment instead of following a single 'lucky path'.. even when i was interacting with story elements.
I feel like somewhere between the two extremes would be more enjoyable..

My biggest peeve with the Far Cry series is how you have absolutely ZERO peripheral vision. Shit gives me a headache.
Farcry hardly has one vision nor are 1 and 2 actually related. The first farcry was made by crytek (they guys behind crysis) and the second one was made by some ubisoft studio, and had a completely different setting and gameplay. One theme was always central and that was open free sandbox like gameplay.
I maintain that Far Cry was a bad game because it was a good game buried under a half- ton of poorly implemented shit,so hopefully this game fixs those problems.Also this much bitching about a small portion of a random bit of a game.
Far Cry was awesome (save for the Trigen), 2 was phenomenal, and this looks pretty damn great as well. Excited!
