For as much as some of us passionately argue over minor issues, game companies sure do like having us vote on things. Nintendo is allowing you to decide what the reversible box art for Xenoblade Chronicles' North American release should be, assuming you aren't allergic to Facebook.
I'm fond of the first image -- the one with the party gazing off into the distance. It reminds me of the concept art for an SNES-era role-playing game. Almost reminiscent of something you'd come across in a strategy guide. I also have a weakness for star-filled skies, so the fourth image makes this a tough call.
What box art did you vote for?

"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Neat.
plus the blossom flowers are a nice touch :P
and this is why i always like Retail vs Digital copies :P
....I just hope it sells enough copies.
Friendly reminder: If you haven't pre-ordered the game yet, go out and do so.
Go ahead and hold your hand up over the left half of the image.
I don't know about you, but when I do that, I want to follow their assumed gaze, and end up getting stonewalled by the new edge that's been created, and it gives a claustrophobic sense to the whole thing.

In all honesty, three out of the four suffer from the same problem; the entire composition is great, but when you cut it in half, the elements that make the images work are stripped away and you're left with this tight space that forces your eye to a place that has nothing to offer. If I had to vote for the one that would look best when actually put on the cover, it'd be option 2, the orangey greenish one, which is a shame because I feel that as a full image it's the weakest offering of the group.
Okay, it's on Facebook and I refuse to use Facebook for anything at all anytime soon. That's my real issue with it.
^_^;
Anyway, I was between 1 and 4, ultimately chose 1 because I didn't like that bubble shaped building in 4, though if that building wasn't there it would easily be my favorite.
Well, since I can't legitimately vote, I'll just vote here. After much deliberation, I gotta go with #4 (the night sky one) as I'm a sucker for beautiful starry skies as well. Number 2 is a close second, I love the green-orange contrast as opposed to the usual blue-orange. Honestly, they're all gorgeous and I won't be disappointed by whatever the vote determines, I'm just very happy Nintendo is doing this at all.
I do tend to agree a lot of the positivity for this that I should have is tempered by the fact that it was such a tooth&nail fight to get the game in the first place.
It still is sorta cool tho and it does go a little ways towards much much much much much much much much much much needed damage control.
The real test is to see how much of a fight they put up for Last Story.
