What's the first thing you see after the ending we have now? A statement that DLC is coming. And what else could that DLC possibly be? It's not like it's gonna start in the middle of the story.
This isn't a cash grab as much as them being too rushed to do things properly. Hell, even the DLC we have now looks like it was supposed to be in the main game. They simply weren't able to finish this thing in time and they have already publicly admitted as much.
"This isn't a cash grab as much as them being too rushed to do things properly."
That's exactly how I've felt about it all along. It felt like they were just rushed to come up with something. They said they were still trying to figure out what to do with the ending back in November, which only left them with a month before the game went to be certified and all that jazz. So it made a lot of sense to me that they were rushed and chose to leave it open for further expansion in th future. However, they've almost specifically stated that that wasn't the case, so I don't know what to believe.
In the case of the day one DLC, they have said it was meant to be in the main game, but they weren't able to get it done in time to put on disc. Plus there's the statement from Casey Hudson which includes the line, "we have not seen the last of Commander Shepard".
I guess I should be looking up links for this stuff but eh, I figure people who are truly interested have already seen it. Plus I'm lazy. :p
They even admit in the geoff keighley interviews/app that they were trying to put together an ending right up until the end of 2011, so it's understandable why they gave up and just copied someone else's ideas.
Probably to combat dem used games sales.
I want what I was fucking advertised and sold. I want what I was led to believe I was buying.
And if you think I'm an entitled prick, then so be it. The only thing worse than people complaining about the ending are the ones vigorously defending Bioware through it all. They fucked up, plain and simple.
I see a huge difference between the ME3 endings and those of Deus Ex. Namely, the Deus Ex endings let to drastically different outcomes.
SPOILER (like there's anyone left who hasn't seen this yet lol)
In ME3, everything besides Destroy is really just a glorified game over screen. You notice how Destroy is the only one that shows Shep wake up, while the other two show him die?
Destroy Ending: In ME3, you destroy all the reapers, all tech based on them, and the mass relays, leading to everyone cut off from eachother and screwed, arguably set back centuries. In DE, you destroy the main control/communications hub, sending the world back into the dark ages, in terms of science and technology.
Control Ending: In ME3, you get the reapers to leave, except you add your own ethical standing to their mix, meaning they'll only initiate the purge of organics if absolutely necessary from now on, as opposed to a precaution. In DE, you join the Illuminati and add your ethical standing to the group, attempting to guide them and ensure a better "guidance" of humanity in doing so.
Synthesis Ending: In ME3, you merge give yourself to the crucible, causing a fusion of synthetic and organic life in a new paradigm. In DE, you merge with the Helios AI to usher in a new paradigm of tech-enhanced people that are linked together in a way never before seen, leading to new understanding and growth.
Granted, you destroy the relays in all 3 endings, but since the reapers survive both Control and Synthesis, it's easy to assume they'd rebuild them for everyone else.
all fanboys of anything are the worst
being at work and all that.
meaning, i protest!
1)Destroy - By default this is always available, even in the worst case, implying it's the undesirable ending (heavily debatable, of course).
2)Control - You unlock this one at ~2500 EMS, I think.
3)Synthesis - This one is the hardest to unlock, at around ~3000, which seems to imply that it's the "best" ending from Bioware's point of view. Quotes from them seem to jive with that, saying things like a hopeful and inspiring ending takes work to achieve. This mirrors the canon of Deus Ex 1 and 2, as 2 establishes the goal of the protagonists being a synthesis of humans and tech.
Also, despite what some mistakenly believe about the "Shep survives" scene, it does NOT require some grand 5k EMS level, so I wouldn't look to that scene necessarily as the "perfect" ending. I had a 3823 EMS, using an ME1/ME2 import, and had max reputation, chose Destroy and got the "Shep survives" scene.
And if you think commenting on it will somehow affect whether or not Dtoid will continue doing something you don't like, I've got a bridge to sell you. Just keep scrolling down the main page and get the fuck over it. XD
Just asking, because everything I've read until now said the wake-up scene is the hardest one to get. Lol, at least this is slightly less complicated than quantum physics... :p
At the time I first beat ME3, it had been about a week since I played any MP, so my muliplier was at (i think) 64%. I may have up'd my EMS to slightly over 4k by the time I finished the last bit of the game, but I think it was ~3900.
The ending does not make sense otherwise.
Anyway Bioware will release post-game DLC to explain the story. That's a given.
There's no way in hell Bioware (and especially that mediocre writer Mac Walters) were smart enough and creative enough to do a mind-fuck like this on purpose. A fun idea and nothing more.
Unless the epilogue DLC takes place between Shep waking up and the Buzz Aldrin voiceover.
the indoctrination theory has valid points and faults but at least people tried to see the end in a different way then just WAH WAH WAH IT DONT MAKE SENSE.
-Fresh out
I don't think the Stargazer scene was just to show that ME can be carried on in other universes more just that the story can continue because they're starting over (no mass relays, etc). They were also specifically talking about Shepard (I dont know why anyone would think it was a different Shepard than the one you played through three games). Unless they're in a parallel universe....
it not about parallel universes just different ones we know ME3 is the last of Shepard arc so they could use another galaxy to start next trilogy this is what i meant about Stargazer talking about the stars n planets each having different speices and stories. It how they continue the series also no need worry about lack of Mass Relays it also possible in the timeline the story of shepard reaches other galaxies.
As for DLC it could be added any part of game either a cutscene showing what happens to the others after the end.
