PAX Prime is but a few weeks away, and I'm sure all of you who are attending are anxious to check the full list of activities so you can plan your weekend accordingly. May I suggest that you make space for Fangamer VERSUS Attract Mode on Saturday night?

Organized by merch store Fangamer and gaming collective Attract Mode, the event will be a mash-up of indie art, music, and games. Oh, and free food. You can play Super Time Force or Cumulo Nimblers, the fan favorite title from May's Comics Vs. Games exhibit. You can enjoy the sweet chiptune rock sounds of guitar virtuoso Danimal Cannon. And of course, you can check out a gallery featuring artists like Ashley Davis, Letters to an Absent Father's Maré Odomo, Niclalis artist and Sup Holmes? intro animator Lindsay Collins, Magical Game Time's Zac Gorman, and dozens more!

You'll be doing yourself a disservice by not attending and meeting a bunch of wonderful people. It'll be at 1927 Events just a few blocks from the convention center, so all you need to do is drop $5 for admission and party from 7 PM to 11 PM on September 1. Check the Facebook page for more deets.

La-Mulana was regarded by some as the hardest game ever. This isn't going to change, though Nigoro's Takami Naramura wants it to be slightly more intuitive so perhaps all those deaths don't lead to warranted frustration and ...more

Open world platformer/space shooter A.N.N.E is a retro buffet

Really, why even play clearly deficient retro games? I mean, where are the shmup segments in Metroid? Where are the open world segments in Contra? Where are the line segments in a bisected triangle? A.N.N.E. is one part platformer, one part shmup, one part RPG. And this year at PAX A.N.N.E. has all its systems in play. Maybe we'll all get to play it this year.more

Boy, The Hong Kong Massacre sure looks like Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami by way of Stranglehold or any other John Woo flick, at least. Which is appropriate for the setting. Though I'm also reminded of Michael Mann's Miami Vice movie for some reason. I guess it can't exactly be Hotli...more
