Fanboys petition to boycott Capcom over DMC4 going multi-platform (Update)

Fanboys petition to boycott Capcom over DMC4 going multi-platform (Update) photo
     Fanboys

Heartbroken and no doubt frightened by the loss of yet another exclusive PS3 title, some Sony fanboys have taken it upon themselves to start a petition asking people to boycott Capcom to express their outrage. Let's see what they have to say:

We (The people that have signed this petition) feel very left out in your decision to make Devil May Cry 4 a Multi-Platform title, and hereby agree to boycott your sale of Capcom affiliated games. This is due to your decision to turn your back on your most faithful gaming company. For years we have enjoyed games, we have reaped the benefits of your committment to Sony. We find it absolutely demoralizing for not only the gamers, but also Sony itself. We want you to know that will not, and should not stand for your actions, and therefore withold our option of buying your product.

Bad grammar aside, isn't it kind of silly to get so upset about losing exclusivity of a game that you'd boycott the very game that you apparently care so much about? It's not as if they wouldn't still get to play it. Get to the choppa!

[Update: Capcom's Christian Svensson has issued an official response to angry fans, stating:

"We are certainly moved that people are so passionate about our products that they would go to such extremes, at the same time we feel that allowing more people access to our content pleases far more people than it displeases (after all, we're not denying DMC4 to anyone that was already going to get it). It really is the best decision for the company and for consumers."

Put away your pitchforks, kids. Capcom still loves you.]

What? Why do they care? I could understand them being upset if Capcom were to ditch the PS3 version entirely in favor of the 360 one, but like you said, it's not like they won't get to play it.

Capcom is awesome I was a little offended that RE4 went to PS2, I felt that my friends who thought that the Gamecube was childish should have had to bite their tongue that Gamecube got RE4 and PS double didnt

It should have read:

We (the people who spent 400 bucks on a PS3 and didn't sell them on ebay) feel left out becuase you (CAPCOM) decided that you want to make more money by making DMC4 multi-platform. How dare you do this and make us feel unspecial.

Whatever, Sony is doing great if you can get past all the bad hype useless people are posting daily. XBox is a great machine too. Each does there job and each gives gamers something to play.

It's just good business. Sony's PS3 isn't being adopted by gamers as rapidly as the PS2 was, mainly because it costs more. It will get there, and then exclusive titles will be more feasible, but in the meantime it makes perfect sense for games to go multiplatform to maintain a title's profitability.

These people are hardcore Sony fanboys. What they are proposing is simply ludicrous: "We're boycotting your game because you're making it available to those OTHER gamers... as well as us." I mean, what? How juvenile do you have to be for that to make any logical sense?

Seeing as how I own a PS1, PS2, and a PSP, and enjoy playing each, I hardly hate SONY. I am disappointed in their launch, and lack of good games. Maybe in a year it will get better. But for 2200 people to cry about a game being made for another system in addition to their own is silly.

Remember, a year and a half ago, Sony could do no wrong -- the PS2 was still doing well, a solid line-up to come, and MS had just released a console that nobody could play long enough to figure out what was so good about it. I remember telling my friends how stupid they were for buying a buggy system, and I remember those systems crashing left and right.

A year later, MSoft in on top of the world. This negativity will change soon enough.

The first line uses the words "left out," yet the idea of making it multi-platform makes it accessible to more people.

The dipshits can still play it on their $600 doorstop, why are they crying?

Apparently they know nothing about the business world. Not that i'm surprised by their blind ignorance.

"i bought a ps3 for alot of money and i would be very greatfull if the console had some much needed support"

Here's one person who doesn't seem to understand that the poor performance of the PS3 market is largely due to Sony's constant fuckups, and the amount of money he spent doesn't convert to some special score in a console rating test.

My bet is that when the game comes out they won't boycott it. Fanboys don't have the self control to deny themself a game they want just because it didn't exclusivley come out on "their" system. I was tempted to email the guy that wrote the petition and call him a retard.

I don't see what they're complaining about. It's not like the 360 or PC version will presumably get extras like the PS2's RE4 version got (as a Cube owner I didn't mind the game being given a PS2 version; I did however felt like they held on to Separate Ways just to give PS2 owners an incentive, which is much more than any late ports that the Cube got). Furthermore, who's to say it's going to be that great, though granted I wish the Wii got some of these games that are falling off the back of the PS3 truck.

1. This article isn't so much about Sony as much as it is about idiot fanboys who think they're petition is going to do anything. Seriously, I'm assuming these people have a PS3 at least so they should just be happy they get to play their game. If they bought a PS3 solely for DMC4, well, then that's what they get for buying the console so early.

2. No, Sony really isn't doing that well. They are actually an emberassment to the industry at the moment. Yeah, a year ago we were all laughing at MS and Sony was on top of the world and the roles have switched, but I don't think Sony is going to come back from this (they aren't going to go away, but I'm becoming more and more convinced the PS3 is going to do terrible). The have only had bad PR, there still are no good exlusives out any time soon, the games out on the system now are mediocre at best or easily found somewhere else, and the one decent thing they had going for them, Home, is going to be a disaster due to people being able to upload content into their home.

I'm sorry people, but the PS3 just isn't doing well and I don't see it doing well. When the official launch party for a system has a grand total of 80 people and their brand new console is getting beaten by the GBA, a system that is more or less dead, and the PS2, their legacy system that is releasing better looking games than most PS3 games, you can begin to see that things just don't look great for them.
Sharpless's Avatar

I almost want to feel sorry for them. I mean, Sony is at-risk of losing a few hot exclusives. The whole PS3 situation, whether it becomes profitable in the future or not, is nearly a disaster at the moment. All the company has going for it is potential, which doesn't mean a whole lot now.

Then I remind myself that these guys are fucking bitches and they should get slapped with a big moist hand. Hard. And often.

Selfish little bastards. They aren't worried about the quality of the game or anything else. If they would really care about Capcom and the game they would realize that it is in Capcom's best interest to make it a multi-platform game to broaden the audience, hence bringing the quality game in the more hands than just the Sony crowd and having more people appreciate the game which is better for the game and better for Capcom. It's just it that Sony fuckbuddies don't want it so, they only want it better for themselves because they are selfish and ignorant.

Yes they deserve to die and I hope they burn in hell!

That's a horrible thing to say. There is a simple reason that you have to respect fanboys. Who else would make our fast food and bring us our pizza? People like this aren't able to sustain in the real workforce because of their fragile ego and the fits they have to pitch as soon as their superiority feels threatened. Their sole purpose on this earth is to serve and humor those with normal intelligence. You fuckers need to learn to appreciate people like this.

What sort of message does this send to Capcom? It says "Sony fanboys are ungrateful" and won't buy their product. What will Capcom do? Release it to someone who will. IE, the 360 crowd. They're acting like spoilt children who are cranky because their brother got cake too! They're digging a hole that's only going to lose them more "exclusives".

And yes, I would like to see a version of RE4 remade for the Wii with shooting controls and the extra content.

i hate fanboys, I emailed the person who started this petition:

Wow, you are a really gay fanboy, aren't you? Your petition is the faggiest thing I have ever seen. I own a PS3, Xbox 360 and a Wii, and I can tell you (what is already reflected in the national sales data), that PS3 ranks a distant 3rd to the 360 and the Wii as far as it's quality and value to gamers. I don't think you know anything about simple economics, because if your beloved Capcom only made games for your beloved PS3, they would miss out on 8 million sales opportunities (10 million install base for 360 vs. under 2 million for PS3) for their game, which leads to less money for the company, AND LESS MONEY FOR FUTURE GAME DEVELOPMENT/INVESTMENT! Stop making retarded petitions like this, and petition the people who need it: SONY & Jack Tretton!! Until Sony can give developers a reason (or the know how) to develop quality games for their overpriced (Blu-Ray Trojan Horse) console, little fanboys like you will be crying all the way until Holiday 2007 (because not enough people will buy the overpriced, improperly marketed behemoth) when Nintendo or Microsoft completely dominates the market share of video game consoles.

Anyway, making a quality game ONLY for PS3 cost between 10 to 20 millions and lets be honest, its not like EVERYONE who own a PS3 are going to pick this one up. So if you even want a chance to make a profit, you got no choice but to put it multiplatforms...
