Im fairly sure if marketing had never come into existance, there would still be idiots arguing that their arbitrary choice of console was the only correct one.
Don't want to sound like a fanboy(maybe i am a little bit) I can't say the most powerful thing to date...but they have proven themselves that they were somehow right with few of their titles which technicaly are the best to date(among gaming consoles) and will keep on in regard to that statement
Now it's in Microsoft's hands to prove them wrong with the 360 if they can this generation that is
Said it was smart people taking advantage of idiots. There still would be idiots, I'm saying the perceieved extremes of the fanboy conflict are strong supported by the marketing back rather than discouraged/ignored.
Really, that's what marketing is. A form of mind rape. Both parties are to blame, but graduating from business school and being inandated with the inane crap spouted by half-dead fat turds about how to leverage one quality to heavily influence another's behaviour (You know, like manipulation) has garnered a special hatred in my heart for marketers.
Fyi. I'm a finance/law guy so I'm no saint.
@ Naim Master
I didn't enjoy watching Stephanie Meyer pleasure herself. I definately did not enjoy watch James Cameron do it.
Stir the pot, bring them out or the intended purpose of the article will have failed.
I figured the purpose of the article was to bring "religious" individuals into the discussion to see what kind of heady arguments they would use.
That's the failing of this article then. While there are similarities I suppose, I just don't think that the people taking the time to hold up fag = anal = pirate signs are signing on to xbox live
I liked the article, it's pretty much true as far as I can tell.
Glorius PC Master Race > Portables (All Generations) > Consoles (All Generations)
Also
Christains > Muslims > Atheists
GOGOGO
Christains > Muslims > Atheists
Well at least we now know why you won't shut up about how this article "sucks".
You really thought I was serious?
Really?
Well I guess my purpose has been achieved.
FYI. Christain/Muslim/Atheists are pretty much the most vocal of the major religions/anit-religions out there.
Atheism being the newest (in a sense) would be the 360
Islam would be somewhere in between Christianity and Atheism so it would be sony.
Christianity being in the middle would be Nintendo
Judaism being the eldest of the monotheistics would be Atari
Speaking from a monotheistic standpoint. The Jesus of Nintendo would be the DS since it sells like hot cakes and keeps reviving in the NDP with newer versions.
Except I wasn't arguing for one side or another, it's just that from what I can tell the only reason that you've made up a tenth of the whole comments for this article is because you're butt hurt about it.
So it made perfect sense really.
Let me put it this way...They say a mother sees her child as the most beautiful of all even if it's the most ugliest child...out of love of course but still even if she knows that she will never accept it.The same goes for materials and things (not exactly love)you support something you choose to purchase which means you defend your personal taste and opinion...it's only natural defending from anyone trying to prove you otherwise.
The thing is how far someone goes and act out of this "fanboyism"?Some express themselves others don't(and they keep saying fanboyism is inmature e.t.c)
bottom line...Everyone is a fanboy
It would certainly be reasonable to dislike him or his work if that's your agenda, but hating him? That's a bit extreme for somebody you don't even know and will likely never meet.
People are fucking crazy sometimes.
I making up the tenth of the posts cause I'm waiting for my flight and there is nothing better to do.
But since I agree with the message of the article but personally hate Jim and the way the article is written.
Yes I am butthurt that he has essnetially stated my beliefs.
I hate him in the sense that he typifies everything wrong with online posting. I hate him about as much as I hate the shitty weather outside. I hate in the context that I do not like, not so much in the context that I want his life to end. In fact not at all.
Hate is so much easier to write than do not like.
I prefer to think everyone, including myself mind you, is an idiot. We are just varying degress of stupidity which reflects the level of retardation we put out into the public sphere.
The way I see it, the Religious peoples are most likely at church or in some other churchy-related activity while the fanboys Jim is referring to in the article are furiously dry-humping their systems over the weekend.
We should see standard commenting behavior on Monday.
Sabbath is the seventh day of the week. Sabbath is on saturday. However you are incorrect to assume that most churchy people would be in service at the time of posting seeing as how PST 7:00-10:00 AM is the standard service hours and EST that would be as late as 1:00 PM. So given that 'churchy' activities I'd imagine would not last longer than 3 hours and that the article is most likely targeting the younger church-goers with a higher tech affinity, the timing of the article is quite good to garner a desired response.
However, since such a response is not being garnered by the appropriate crowd, one can only assume that very few church-goers read DTOID.
You win! I leave you to enjoy the rest of the article's comments, you fuc*ing nutcase.
However, since such a response is not being garnered by the appropriate crowd, one can only assume that very few church-goers read DTOID.
Wrong, we're just smart enough to A) not read it, B) not comment on it, or C) not lose our shit over it.
I HAVE BEEN A DTOID READER SINCE BEFORE THE ASTEROID KILLED THE DINOSAURS AND JIM STERLING IS THE WORST EVAR. I AM LEAVING U 4EVERZ NOW.

I believe this article was written as a (I must say poorly done as evidence by my previous post mirroring the article to qualities I see in Jim) hyperbole of religious individuals. The purpose of the article was to draw out younger, less educated religious individuals a.k.a. the church-going, weekday fellowship short term missions, hating evolution and the big bang group. Seeing as how he has failed to achieve this purpose I guess I was mistaken to solely say assuming few church-goers read DTOID.
I'll state that few fanatical religious church-goers read DTOID.
However, I don't believe my initial assumption is wrong as I have seen little evidence (Not in just this post but all posts in general as well as the timing of posts on Saturday/Sunday) that the majority of poster are in fact church goers.
Few meaning less than 50% of the posters.
All things in moderation. Any extreme is a bad thing. I think I already made this statement before.
I apologize if I have offended any church-going individuals by not specifying my statement.
Was that an XKCD comic? I remember them doing something with window/mac commercials.
