Fanboy Friday: YouTube Edition

It's that time again! Last week's Fanboy Friday seemed to be a success, so we're going to try it again. For those of you that missed it, each week we'll be taking a look at some of the ridiculous, absurd, and downright scary things that fanboys will say in defense of their chosen console.

Sadly, this week isn't as epic as last week's "the 3 in the review score was really a smudgd 8 because they printed it in bad quality", but we've still got some good stuff for you. We'll be taking a look at a YouTube video made by one of the GameFAQs forum posters designed to highlight all the exclusives on the PS3.

So, a GameFAQs forum poster created the following YouTube video. (Warning: because it's HD, it takes a while to load, so be patient. It looks way worse in SD, but if you can't wait just click on the video and switch it over through YouTube.)

It's actually pretty well done -- basically a look at all the upcoming exclusives for the PS3 through various cinematics that have been released. It's a long load, but it's worth checking out; hell, it even got me kind of excited about some of the stuff coming up for the console, and I really only use mine to play Persona 4. For a fan-made video, I think it's pretty good.

Other people, however, did not.

To be fair, he originally posted his video in a GameFAQs thread titled "Not YEAR of the PS3, but GEN of the PS3 - CONFIRMED!" That's pretty flamebait-ish, but not nearly enough so to warrant the responses that he got from some people.

The comments started out quite nicely, with people praising him for the video and the time he spent putting it together. However, things quickly devolved.

One YouTuber (who appears to be a professional YouTube troll based on the comments in his own profile) gets us started off right.

you should spend less time jerking off over the ps3, and more time outside having a life.

We can assume that these are the kinds of comments that were moderated out over at the original GameFAQs post. I guess some of them were really bad though.

We really need to have TheBorderCollie banned from Gamefaqs. That fucking prick is always trolling and bashing the PS3. I would personally kill him. Please, find his adress and kill him please. Damn, if I ever get my hands on that faggot TBC, I would slowly torture him for an entire month while keeping him alive. And I would greatly enjoy EVERY FUCKING SECOND OF IT.

Good thing the mods are there to keep the Xbox fanboys in line.

Also, the fucking Gamefaqs gay-ass mods are fucking Xbots too. They call it "trolling" if you say positive things about the system. Fuck these 13-year old rejects. Fucking pathetic mods with no life.

Oh. Looks like moderation works both ways. Some people aren't real thrilled about that.

Sadly, all the juicy stuff from GameFAQs was taken out pretty quickly, so we can only attempt to piece together what happened. If I had to guess, though, I would wager that a bunch of people waved their e-peens around, talked about how much they could bench press, and then threatened to stab each other.

Look, we're all passionate about video games -- we wouldn't be here if we weren't. There's no reason to be a dick about it, though, and there's especially no reason to threaten to kill people. One of the things I love about Destructoid is that people with disagreements can usually sit down and talk to each other intelligently about them, without things devolving into idiotic name-calling and threats of violence. I always wonder why thinking rationally is so difficult to do on the Internet.

With that said, the PC version of L4D is vastly superior to the 360 version.
