Fanboy Friday: Stupids comment like a five years old

Hello friends! Earlier this week Batman: Arkham Asylum came out. It's been getting really good reviews! IGN gave both the 360 and PS3 versions a 9.3, because they never do separate reviews for multiplatform releases unless the game is fundamentally different. You would think that would be a good way to keep fanboy arguments to a minimum, right?

Wrong!

Before we get to the straight fanboying, I always like to take a moment to laugh at how seriously everyone takes number scores, and how people think there's some definitive scale you can use.

8.7 is a little more appropriate than 9.3... This game doesnt belong with groundbreaking titles

As part of the review, IGN notes that the game is about 12 hours. This doesn't sit well with a large portion of the internet. A game that's NOT 50 hours? And doesn't have MULTIPLAYER?! GOOD HEAVENS.

it scored a 9.3? no way. for a non-RPG single player game without any multiplayer whatsoever? IGN is drinking the kool-aid

9.0 for a 12 hour game? And that's with the riddles solved? Yikes, that'd be a 7.0 in my book. I'm also not convinced the gameplay is deep enough for a 9.5. An 8.5 maybe. Ah well.  Based on the review, I'd score this as an 8.8-8.9

9.0 lasting appeal for a game that lasts 12 hours including optional content and has no multiplayer? Okay...

Once upon a time I'd buy games purely for the fun factor. Now I buy them only if they're a justifiable investment. Meaning I'll get more than a dozen hours of play time out of them. That pretty much starts with the length of game. If it's long then I don't need multiplayer. If it's short it needs multiplayer.

Someone quickly figures out that they can compare Batman's 9.3 to other games. I'm surprised it took as long as it did for someone to mention it.

unless there's something missing from the demo, this rating is too high. high 8's, sure, but a 9.3 is a little too much. i think infamous got a 9.4 and it was waves better than this game from what i can tell. greg must be a comic nerd or something

Then some other people get a brilliant idea. Why compare the score to games that are already out? Let's talk about games that haven't even been released yet!

Uncharted 2 will get a better review. I'm guessing a 9.6

While much less common, a few people just couldn't believe that this game even got a good score at all.

Still don't see why anyone other than bat-fetishists or comic nerds should be interested in this game.

I dont care how high the rating for this ugly game is. I'd rather wait for Assassins Creed 2 than to throw away $60.00 on a sluggish looking game that's going to earn an easy score just because of that boring Dark Knight Piece of crap of a film did easily well thanks to Mr. Ledger's death and the fact that he did the Joker good enough. But still, to hell with this.

The numbers chat died down relatively quickly -- probably because it's a multi platform release and it got a very respectable score. What's a fanboy to do? Well, you could always start screaming about hardware...

i find the ps3 version to have so much better graphics than the 360 im runnig on a 32 inch 1080i hdmi so i can tell the difference

Too bad the PS3 version only runs in 720p, look on the back of the case.......but wait... the 360 says 1080p....

LOL You realize the 360 has HDMI right? The reason the ps3 cant do full 1080p on games cause its got a slow ass 1x blu-ray drive.

Wtf are you on about? All PS3 games CAN run in 1080p.. xbox games can only run in 720p (LOL) and if you do some smart thing to make the game run in 1080p the image will be all stretched.. and how do you know it says on the back of the box its not out yet jeez!

BigT you're a fuckin idiot. You can claim not to be a fanboy but it's obvious that you are. "The game just feels right with the PS3 controller" Get the fuck out...I'm not trying to brag or showboat, but I have a 55" LED HDTV, 1080p support, surround, all that goodness and I can honestly say the PS3 version does, in fact, have more jaggies. At least it did in the demo. Graphically, the 360 version is crisper and runs at a slightly faster clip. The extra content for the PS3 version was a retarded decision on the developers part though of course it wasn't really their choice. Money talks, and I'm guessing the extra content will be a timed exclusive anyway. Get over it and face the facts BigT, multiplat PS3 titles still aren't reaching their full potential because the console is so Goddamned retardedly hard to program for. As a huge fan of the PSX and PS2, I wish this wasn't true but it is...

Every body stop the 360 owners cant admit that their jelous PS3's version of batman it way better the controles are more tight and work better and we got the joker get over it you have a better console overall so stop complaining and its not a five hour game if you try to solve all the riddels its more like a 15 - 10 hour game

I'll take the actual complete version on PS3 thanks. I've seen the demo of both versions in action and could not see one drop of difference in the visuals AT ALL. So PS3 version wins out for more content... oh, and also by automatic virtue of being on a console that doesn't have a better than one in two chance of blowing up in your face of course.

4. I own the 60GB model that has the chip so I've never had a problem playing PS1 or PS2 games. 360 is by FAR worse in terms of backwards compatibility.

After the list fight, I think people finally realized that the entire conversation was stupid, and most people just gave up and wandered off to go find something else to complain about. What was once a fierce fanboy battleground became nothing more than a barren, empty field. But if you listen carefully, you can hear the final words uttered before the fanboys vanished into the darkness.
