Another week, another game review. As I'm sure you all know, Battlefield 1943 recently came out for both PSN and XBLA. As is IGN's policy, the two versions of the game get a copy/pasted identical review, presumably to prevent fanboy wars from breaking out. And, as is what always happens, everyone still fights and screams at each other. Additionally, GameTrailers also reviewed the game, and we got some hilarious comments about the score.

As is typical, the first few comments are usually just from people excited about the game or rationally discussing the review. It's all rainbows and sunshine, and then some guy has to come along and ruin everything.

so now people on the 360 can play a game that's not quite as good as warhawk but basically the same game?

We'll get to the PS3 and 360 bickering in a little bit though. First, I want to look at something much more bizarre. Oddly enough, almost instantly a fight broke out over whether or not Battlefield 1943 was better or worse than Call of Duty: World at War. They even manage to get a little console fanboyism in.

At least we can be sure it'll be better than World at War. Hopefully it's good enough to hold me over until MW2. I knew nothing about this game until the review popped up. Now I'm kind of excited about it. I bet this game beats some Live Arcade records.

Umm, I'm sure this won't get played as much online so it wont be better than WaW but as long as you think that though chief that'll be your lil secret.

Just because more people are playing WaW doesn't make it better. That would be like saying more people play Uno online than Bioshock, so Uno must be a better game.

To me, WaW was better on 360 than on PS3 for the sole reason there were more players on the 360 version.

Hey douchebag a game designer said in a interview that theres only 1 mode and no plans for dlc are even being considered. Plus no way this 15 dollar game matchs CODWAW in full 1080p with all the multi modes it sports.

Really? Comparing a $15 downloadable game to a full fledged retail title? Sure, they're in the same genre, but that just seems ridiculous to me.

Enough of that, back to the console fighting. As is common, a fight about $$$ for Live breaks out.

We Playstation owners have the brains not to pay 60 bucks a year for the what's called Live. We play on a better system for free. My Xbox 360 hasn't been touched since I bought Left 4 Dead on it. There's no other reason to play it and that game has gotten stale.

You have to be really poor not to be able to afford 60 bucks a month. Thats really cheap for everything a 360 can do. All you PS3 fanboys can cry about how Ps3 is so much better than 360. When the fact is that PS3 is now a gameing system, while the 360 is an entertainment system. The 360 will always be top dog unless Ps3 lowers is damn hugh prices and starts selling games! And please dont call me a 360 fanboy since I equally enjoy both systems.

Some people are very upset that XBLA is referenced in the review.

"The drama of World War II comes to XBLA." What the f@#$ is up with this tagline?? This game is available on PC as well as through PlayStation Network. Get your facts straight Daemon Hatfield. The integrity of this website is starting to decline. It's like they purposely tagged it with this as to make people think this is what XBLA has to offer and Punisher is what PSN has to offer. Give me a break.

This brilliant mind is apparently unaware that "def" is an abbreviation for definitely.

this has REALLY ruined fps' for me!!! i mean if you need to know where everyone in the f#@$@#$ game is at everytime then why do you even play fps'??? not only does that mean your no good at them but it also take the f#@$@# fun out of the game for people who just play it for the fun and excitement of it and dont care if they get shot from behind a couple of times a match (should have be paying attention to the AUDIO clue -like footsteps and gun shots- around you DUMBA@#$#!!!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The GameTrailers review went a bit differently. While IGN was mostly bickering and squabbling about the game (or other games like it), the GameTrailers comments were mainly focused on the score - a 7.6. This did not sit well with either the 360 fans or the PS3 owners, and we once again see people assign ridiculously arbitrary meanings to fractions of a point.

i think 7.6 is a low score. They should of reviewed 1943 regarding both the ps3 and 360 versions as a whole and not just the 360's because they said how it's having connection issues which is not found on the ps3.

However I hate the score they gave this, if it was 60 bucks it would be this score, but for 15 it will easily pay for itself in how long you play it and how much fun you have. GT reviews are always horrible.

im butt hurt, this is a game review, not a first week game review, you should ignore the flaws that are now gone, because when people in the future look up this game and see the review got a bad score for problems that are no longer there, they won't want it. you guys are fucking stupid.

7.6 is fuckin bullshit!!! this game deserves at least an 8.5 to 9.0 

Wow, 7.6? Are you joking? The game is amazing for 1200 Microsoft Points/whatever it is on PSN. It's the only Arcade game I've bought and it's awesome. 8.5/10 at least.

An 8 would've been a fair score

Considering the high scores given to the likes of resident evil 5, which was garbage, the score was unfairly low.

they always cry about stupid stuff cause who ever playes the game to review it ... cant play the game for shiz. the game should of gotten like a 8.7 or around there .. so what if the servers or what ever are having problems it was released only a week ago . plus who ever played the sniper in this review sucked ballz

kinda upset that GT gave it a 7.6...should have deserved at least an 8.0 imo. 

I still cannot understand the people who think that games should be scored off a demo, or as we've seen in the past, even a trailer.

Because of the raw fun this game provides, I think it should score like 8 or something. I mean, I only played the demo, and I am seriously considering buying the full game after just that taste. It is just that awesome.

One guy went the opposite route, and couldn't believe the game got a score as high as 7.6. At least, I think that's what he was going for...

I only heared the game is not that good, the game got problems, the game sucks at some stuff, etc. And then they give it a 7.6? And btw, 1943 got Granade Launcher? That's freaking stupid for a BF game. And only 3 classes? Hmm, no thanks. 

Maybe I'm missing something, as I haven't played the game, but I checked with a few people who all seemed to agree that a 7.6 was appropriate. Good game, some problems, limited maps -- certainly enjoyable but not a paragon of the genre. It just boggles my mind how bent out of shape people get over review scores.

Finally, for the last comment we'll jump back to IGN, where a self-proclaimed Battlefield fan talks about his issues with balance, hitbox issues, how the maps are designed to encourage snipefests, and the low framerate. It's relatively well written, and he ends by saying the game deserves about a six. The only mention of Call of Duty is that it has a smooth framerate compared to Battlefield, but he also likes that the Battlefield maps are bigger than the CoD ones. Instead of actually attempting to refute his points, what do his critics do?

you are a COD fanboy.You got owned at all shooters so you feel ripped off. Maybe you should be playing on the Wii,Maybe you wont get owned by some 7 yr old.BATTLEFIELD OWNS COD any day.COD is the the only game you can shoot through the wall with light machine gun fire and piston and spit wades.You must have been experience lag.
