The biggest release this week, in my opinion, has been Mass Effect 2. (Although a lot of other good games came out this week as well! Solid week for gaming!) It's been getting stellar reviews across the board, and everyone I've talked to who's played it has really, really liked it.
What's notable about ME2 is that it didn't come out for the Playstation. Just like the 360 fanboys couldn't stop whining about MAG, this week the PS3 fanboys just can't stop whining about Mass Effect.
Let's explore, shall we?
You know how pretty much every outlet is giving Mass Effect 2 something between a 9 and a 10? This kid, who was serious, is bringing score bitching to a new low.
On the topic of score, PS3 fanboys can't comprehend that one outlet gave the game 0.1 points higher than Uncharted 2. This comment is extra funny because it was made a day before retail release.
Another guy, on the same day, announces that he prefers Uncharted 2. What happens when he gets called out because the game isn't out yet? FREE SPEECH! Also he has both consoles so he's not a fanboy.
This one was made after the game was actually out, although I can guarantee you this kid didn't play it.
God, I wish that guy above would just GET A LIFE.
Ugh, Mass Effect is such an Uncharted 2 ripoff.
Did you really think this wouldn't be anything besides people making Uncharted 2 comparisons?
Man, comparing games is so stupid, what a fanboy. METAL GEAR SOLID!!!
But it's ok, he can't be a fanboy because he (say it with me) HAS BOTH SYSTEMS!
A 360 fanboy stops by to rub in what he thinks is a fact showing the Playstation sucks, but actually makes it sound pretty nice. I can't think of 18 games I want to play on EITHER console.
Really? Xbox has 27 AAA titles? Well that's too bad, because we're on FOUR A NOW!
That's right. You know what your stupid triple A games are like?
I can't come up with individual comments for this whole exchange, so I'm just going to post it all in a row.
One kid was REALLY hoping this game would suck. Because it didn't, he flies off the handle.
Here's a particularly good comment chain. I can understand being disappointed that the game isn't coming to your platform, so I don't fault the original commenter. At least at the beginning...
A troll decides he's going to bait him.
And that immediately sets the original poster off.
The troll responds with the classic "I own all systems" bit.
A seven year old who happened to be passing by decides to jump into the fray.
On the topic of breaking 360s, this guy has a very convincing argument.
Finally, I'm going to end with a really long "discussion" between some individuals.
It begins with this bold claim:
You're not going to be able to back up that claim without some Metacritic numbers, mister!
Two guys, apparently who had been arguing in a previous thread, bring it over to this one. Out of nowhere, one guy posts that he is ENDING THE ARGUMENT, despite not having said anything yet in the entire thread.
The other party responds, pointing out that he's not really ending the argument:
Wow. The first guy is thirteen. What a shocker.
The answer is yes, he does like arguing with 13 year olds.
This next comment was deleted by the 13 year old, but by piecing together some of the replies that quoted him, it appears his response to the ball dropping insult was this.
He's wounded! Go in for the kill!
And with this, the conversation dies. Winner - Guy who likes arguing with 13 year olds.
If you'll notice, almost no one actually talked about Mass Effect 2 AT ALL, except to talk about the score it got or to compare it with Uncharted 2. I don't know why that still surprises me, but it does. You think that SOMEONE could both A. stay on topic and B. actually start a discussion, but you would think wrong. It's virtually impossible.
For those of you who aren't idiots, enjoy your awesome week of Mass Effect 2/MAG/Tatsunoko/No More Heroes 2 playing. We'll hang out again next Friday.
Alright. I feel like I'm fully recovered now. Let's get this show on the road. This week, we'll be taking a trip back to YouTube, but not to look at videos. Instead, we'll look at what people have to say about the recent rele...more
It's time for another video roundup! It's been a while since we've seen what all the kids with webcams were up to, so let's check in. ...ok, I'll be honest. I haven't fully recovered from doing Heavy Rain last week, so I'm taking the easy way out and giving myself one extra week off from going through all those terrible forums. I think I've earned it. Prepare yourself.more
I spent a long time this week of thinking how exactly I wanted to cover Heavy Rain. Originally, my plan was to just look at the lowest reviews and look at all the people whining, but that wasn't very exciting. It was mostly j...more
