Fan's Final Fantasy VII Remake uses Unreal, looks scary

7:00 PM on 12.05.2011

The introductory sequence from Final Fantasy VII has been remade by a team using Epic's freely available Unreal Development Kit, showcasing what a remade FFVII might look like if Square Enix ever did it. Except, to be brutally honest, it wouldn't look quite so creepy as this.

Choppiness and weirdness aside, the video has turned a few heads today and been doing the rounds among the usual videogame news sources. It was actually posted at the end of November, but I guess late's better than never.

Let's be honest though. It doesn't look ... good. I mean, it's totally better than anything I'd ever make, but still ... let's just leave Final Fantasy VII alone, yeah?

Non-exclusive property as it is--in fact, we've seen a lot more Dragon Quests on Nintendo consoles recently--it seems to be the PlayStation console answer to Hyrule Warriors, which Jordan is somehow still playing. I think he's even going to buy an amiibo for it.  more

Witcher 3 may have 'Insanity' mode, deletes your save upon death

I've always been fascinated with permadeath options in games. Witcher 3 might have a doozy. Witcher 3 senior game designer Damien Monnier and level designer Miles Tost recently streamed the game on Twitch and hosted...more
