Square Enix's Last Remnant popped up out of nowhere some time ago, but it was just a name, with no story and hardly any visual content to connect to it. We didn't see or hear much of anything on the title until later this year. Finally, at TGS, we had a chance to play just a little bit of it. And we really liked what we were able to see. In fact, just a few days ago, we called it the "next big Square Enix console release."
Famitsu seems to be on the same page, scoring Last Remnant 38 out of 40 in the latest issue, says CVG. Scores broke down as 10/10/9/9, earning this RPG a Platinum Award. Of course, Famitsu isn't the end-all in game reviews, so check back here soon for our review.
High Famitsu score or no, I'm still looking forward to the worldwide release on November 20th. How about you?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
But anyway, yeah, I don't really pay attention to reviews unless they give dreadful scores, then I get slightly discouraged to buy it when it hits the British Isles.
Congratulations Dale, you've converted me to get this in a bundle with my 360.
I was loving lost odyessy until I got to disc 4 and the party is split up for hours at a time..why? I spend hours leveling up these people to have them split up for the equivilent of like 10 hours...I don't know if I can even go back.
The other big draw back I found was although the enemies looked incredible, there are only about 3 or four of them in a given battle area..so there is no suprise when the battles start..bad moves to an otherwise great game.
I hope the last remenant can avoid some of those mistakes and reminds of the Square of old.
Anyway Famitsu effectively fails at scoring anything really.
That said, since the game is only $40 on Amazon I still ordered it. I feel the need to support S-E doing something original instead of just pumping out more FF or DQ copy pasta.
It's $40 on Amazon? Where? I think you may be mixing this up with Infinite Undiscovery.
Really glad I did the $40 Amazon pre-order :)
On Nov. 11th, Amazon dropped it down to $40 temporarily. It went back up to $56 yesterday.
I feel the same way... I made it to the fourth disk and the last boss but gave up cuz it was sooooooo boring.
@ ANYONE:
I have yet to find an RPG or JRPG that has characters change armor and reflect the change on the "in game" character. Has anyone found a game like this?
I'm looking for something along the lines of Final Fantasy or Lost Odyssey with an armor changing deal like Oblivion, Fallout, or (hate to mention it) Two Worlds?
Im really basically waiting for Baulders gate 3.
I have all 3 systems (PS3, Wii, and Xbox360) so it doesn't matter which system just a game I can get lost in...
PS. And dont mention games that change armor by level or time... I want armor changing when I get enough money to buy that said piece of armor.
Thanks in Advance.
While im on this note.. Does anyone know why they don't already have a game like this? And on that note I JUST copywrite'd the idea. 8>P
`GooN`
DirtyHobo: I thought the deal was permanent. They were offering a $20 discount on the game if you pre-ordered it the other day, which I did.

Got 20 bucks off Infinite when ya buy Last... I still think Last Remnant will be a great game worthy of any JRPG lovers attention.
The art style looks like every other jRPG not named Persona or TWEWY, as well.
