Holy Azure Grimore, Batman! After a confirmed new version of BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger was coming to Europe with new features and characters, Japanese and North American players were left wondering what exactly that meant. Was it DLC? Minor, non-game changing aesthetic changes? Something we would never end up seeing? Or a whole new repeat of Street Fighter II/Guilty Gear method of making minor updates and slapping a $60 price tag on a new version of the game. Well, for good or for bad, it looks like the latter, with Famitsu confirming BlazBlue: Continuum Shift.
So what do we get with this? According to fans over at the Dustloop forums (via Shin Oni), Arcade, PS3, and 360 versions are all confirmed, and we have new levels, new HUDs, and most importantly, Tsubaki is now a playable character. You remember her as a classmate to Carl, Noel and Jin, right? Anyway, she's sporting some crazy new headgear and outfit, and is supposedly very beginner friendly, a-la Noel. Hopefully a few more are on their way.
Other supposed changes include nerfs for the top threet tiered characters (like the utterly broken V-13), as well as buffs to Carl. Rachel and Ragna are shown with some new moves and drives, and it looks like the over all feel is that is, yes, a championship edition. Testing is beginning in Japan this week, in Akihabara. Unfortunately, there are some clarity issues, as some are saying this version is not the one coming to Europe, however, we are in contact with Aksys to gain more information on the situation and will update when we find out. Check the gallery for the Famitsu scans.
Oh...wait....
I really hope not. Make it DLC or something. I'd pay for it if I had to.
As to Carl, the only way hes even remotely a top-tier character is cause of his Clap Infinite. THAT'S IT.
That includes Arakune. He needs no nerf.
The original was awesome but I have no interest in paying full price for one new character and tweaks.
As for the tweaks, all that needs to be done is minor nerfs on Nu, Rachael, and Arakune, and some buffs to Tager, Bang, and Hakumen. Everyone else is right in the middle of the pack.
The Guilty Gear updates were much more major than this, and it was $50 back then.
Rage.......just.......rage....
If Aksys has their head on straight they will release this as DLC for Calamity Trigger and effectively "replace" the stuff on shelves with Continuum Shift.
I hope Arakune and Rachel aren't really nerfed. It's more v-13 needing to be nerfed and some others being buffed. It's good to see redone & new stages, new music, new moves, better animation(probably), etc. and most importantly new character(s).
Then I will be UNSTOPPABLE! MWAHAHA!
Just ask Ben and Stella, and any other people who witnessed me playing Carl Clover at PAX :D
I'm coming for you EBN and MatCD!
Give Bang a buff, too. He's my favorite character (basically in all of fighting game history), and I can't bring myself to play as him because of a steep and unrewarding learning curve. Dammit, Aksys, Bang deserves to be God Tier, and you know it.
And yes, the nerfs are necessary. I love the concept of zoning in a fighting game, it's a very neat mechanic, but Aksys made it TOO good.
Tactix, I will crush you with this new girl, got it?
Or maybe they're saving him for the sequel.
Nu...make D swords not continue if blocked. Lower her damage output, make 5C not auto track. You can work with something there.
Tager needs more help in getting the opponent to him. He can do it nice now but for people like Nu...
Hakumen needs a seperate meter/bar for his specials. It's cool he has a limit to his already godly specials but to couple that with the super bar kinda limits him more than he should. or rather lower his damage output, make him do specials whenever, and make his dash in his 2 part dash uppercut not eat up meter. He'd have a better way to the opponent then that isn't air dashing...
Litchi....for goodness sakes make her omni guard block lows too and i'll be happy. gimme more pole dancing gimmicks, and some more versatility with calling the pole back.
Ragna...help him Aksys. make him get more health back on his drive or something. most of his combos are kinda 50/50 cause most of them can be teched out of.
uhh...I think i'm done with MY wants. Just gimme Kokonoe as character number 2 plz.
Youtube uploads. It'd give me a reason to actually sit down and tech the shit out of this game.
I think for Tager his projectile should be quicker to use. Bang has got to have a little better combo-ability, and Ragna definitely need some help. Tao too. Maybe Noel can see a minor nerf too.
I'm also sad to see Nu get nerfed because people dont take the time to learn how to counter her strategies. I will still use her though. I HEART MAH NU!!! OPENING THE RIFT!!! That being said, I think the knockback on her C moves is a bit too much.
Oh, and Terumi for character 2 pl0x. Please, don't make me wait until BlazBlue 2 to see him in action. I don't care if there is no story associated with him.
*Sigh* I hope this is all DLC or I won't be getting it for a while...
Tager, though? Tager struggles right now, but I think if they're hitting his three worst fights (v-13, Arakune, Rachel) with the nerfbat as far as their zoning is concerned, I actually think Tager will do just fine without any further help.
-Make Bang's Install theme play every single time he punches somebody. In fact, replace every character's song with the Bang Install theme.
I dunno most Kune players say he does need a nerf. at least the few i've seen/talked to.
@Ben PerLee
that would help as I read Nu can actually poke him out of it with a standing D. Which is rather stupid because tager's projectile itself is fast.
Tao could use some help. There's no other reason to block high against her outside of her overhead.
Both Noel and Jin need super nerfs. Jin's ice arrow has some wonky ass hitboxes. Noel's air super is kinda too good. Make that whore not be able to air dash to the other side after the super. It's already ultra safe.
Jin and Noel can do some super bullcrap things as well, And Litchi combos that go into the corner, that then go into corner combos isn't broken at all apparently?
problem with Ragna is that most of his combos get dropped/teched out of because they're techable. Like Gauntlet hades combos. if the kick piece was untechable (or at least untechable when falling from the air), Ragna could work with a lot. He already has 2nd worst HP in the game, his drive doesn't give much health back (at least compared to freakin Unlimited Ragna.) Either he needs better health or better options with his combos so they don't get dropped because opponents can tech out of them.
Litchi corner rape is her game. Plus if you keep going with the combo, damage scaling kills it. A lot of people complain about Litchi but I think it's the same deal with more less played characters. People don't know how to deal with it so they have nothing better to do but complain about it.
So long as they tone down the NU spam and don't screw with Tager, life will be good.
Hope we get at least one more character and make it DLC. Will be interesting though to see how this works with online games if they make this a seperate disc. Also I wonder if this will be what the EU version will get. I've heard they will get two more characters in their release build in the Dustloop forums as well.
