Famicom-style controller for your Wii: cool or not? photo

I love everything about the look of the Super Famicom, and I can't deny I have a few original controllers hanging around my house somewhere. That being said, fans of the design like me may be attracted to this new Classic Controller from CodeJunkies, which can be used with your Wii and retails for $19.99. Also comes with Turbo fire!

I like the idea, but at the same time I think I'd rather own real Famicom products than lookalikes (although I can't use the real thing with my Wii, so I can see why this would be an attractive prospect). If you decided to skin your Wii with a matching theme though, I'll bet you'd elicit some oohs and aahs from guests with similar interests for sure!

I'd be more interested if it had the look and layout of the american NES controller.

It looks pretty nice, but my Wii is unfortunately still collecting dust.

That little OLD SKOOL banner is rather annoying too.

Regardless, I dig it. :]

Awesome, I'd so buy one if they where available in Sweden.

I would actually buy this if I could find it. Though, the 2 extra buttons on the right make me kind of "meh", it seems like it could be a fun buy.

At least when I am getting raped in Ninja Gaiden I can actually feel like I was back when I was 4.

I think it looks pretty slick and all, but like DaedHead8
I'd rather see one in the form of something I've used. The Japanese versions never endeared themselves to me seeing as how I didn't grow up with 'em...

Not cool. Way too many buttons.

pointless really. the only reason to play a wii with a nes pad is that it's a nes pad. this thing is not a nes pad.

It's a Famicom Pad with extra buttons.
Looks neat, but I'll just stick with the Wii's classic controller.

circular d-pad = no buy.

I love the existing classic controller, so this feels unnecessary for Wii, but can I have something like this for Xbox 360?

It's not nearly as cool as http://www.destructoid.com/blogs/Holyetheline/use-super-nes-controller-for-wii-vc--66929.phtml] using a real super nintendo controller on the Wii

The real question though is how does it feel, Colette?!
It'd be nice to play retro games on a controller that actually felt like an NES or Famicom controller...
Right?!
They should manufacture NES and SNES(American and Japanese) controllers... Only Nintendo should produce them...
I'm sure they would sell like, well, controllers! ;)

like some others said before, circular d-pad = no buy, only sony managed to make another d-pad that is sort of playable. On the Wii or emulators only a retrousb.com adaptor will do.

If it has the annoying "spindle" D-pad like all the other controllers out there, then no way.

Seriously, all controllers except for the PlayStation have the D-pads mounting point a few millimeters above the PCB. The old controllers had the D-pad flush with the PCB. It makes a huge difference in feel, as I'm sure any XBox 360 owner will attest. Why doesn't anyone make controller like that anymore?

That actually looks good. I personally can't stand the Classic Controller; but then again I don't own a Wii so I really have no right to bitch. Still, if I HAD a Wii, I'd so get one of those things :o

That looks... horrendous. I'd rather have a Club Nintendo Super Famicom Classic Controller.

Or you could just buy the Super Famicom Classic controller on eBay. It's fantastic and totally worth the money if you can get it for around $40. Almost makes the Wii worth playing.
