Fallout Online starts the viral marketing photo

With the legal troubles behind them it seems that Interplay is back in action and actually working on Fallout Online, or they're just sending out teasers  and launching that website with beta sign ups during E3 to get everyone's hopes up. Maybe being sued for not making the game was the kick in the ass that Interplay needed because members of the Fallout Online emailer got the below images in the their email the other day.

It's not very clear what they're about, but they definitely have to do with Fallout Online. The images were introduced with the text "There are many stories and many more tall tales about life in the wastelands, this is one of them..." The pictures and story clearly shows that they've got a world in mind and some odd Fallout style characters set-up, but the real question is when are we actually going to hear about something that is playable. Hell, a teaser trailer would be fine and dandy.

I'm not going to lie, they've got me hooked once again.

[Thanks, Drinkingpiano]

Meh...

The only MMO I'm going to even consider is Guild Wars 2. Otherwise, I'm done with them.

I'm guessing this game either never gets made or is really really bad.

Yeah, it's a good thing World of Warcraft and every other major MMO gave up monthly fees.

If there is no monthly fee, I'll have to finally upgrade my ageing computer which I have been putting off.

People - only bad MMOs have no fees. "Free" MMOs are actually more expensive if you want to play them well, which is why no "free" MMOs have a hardcore following.

I hate the idea of monthly fees for one game. It's like a gym membership, you have to use it or you're wasting money.

You mean like ddo? Your line of thinking is no longer true.

@hyrule
No they don't. They own a lot of the market which is lots of the casual market but its also no longer growing.

@bruce
While about fallout is your opinion. Monthly fees are still strong.

If done right, I'd be all over this in a second! There are two MMO concepts I've heard about in the last few years that have actually interested me. This, and the Firefly MMO, although in the latters case, I HIGHLY doubt it will even happen and if it does, I HIGHLY doubt it will be good. But if it DID happen and it WAS good, then I would never leave my house.

I'm relieved they're not very far in development. Rumors had been that it had to be out by December 31st to avoid being boinked by Bethesda, which would have led to an altogether crappy game.

Honestly, I'm excited. Fallen Earth *almost* sucked me in (if I played it now, it would, but I played the Open Beta) and this definitely would.

@ Blah

Agreed... Guild Wars 2, and maybe some others if they go the Guild Wars route for pay model. I'm not paying subscription fees to play games that aren't as good as singleplayer RPGs anymore.

I don't consider the presence of other human players an instant forgive and forget if the main game sucks in comparison to offline RPGs. I need a reason to play the game and chatting ain't it.

I'm currently replaying Fallout 3. In a few months, New Vegas. Then some time later, Fallout Online.

Fallout doesn't want to let go.

Never been into MMO's, wanted to, but never got into them, something about not having a game worthy PC (my laptop now crashes trying to play C&C Generals - weep)

Bring this to the open gaming platform known as the PSN and I WILL PAY!

his is an action role-playing game, set in a post-apocalyptic Mojave Desert, in which players assume the role of a survivor hero who HP0-S27 investigates a mystery and performs a series of quests. Missions allow players to explore the Mojave Desert, surrounding casinos, and abandoned facilities; other quests involve combat with human and mutant survivors. Players use chainsaws, laser rifles, knives, and sledgehammers to kill enemies. Fighting can be frenetic and intense, highlighted by various camera effects (e.g., slow motion, blurring, screen shakes) and depictions of dismemberment, blood spray, and blood trails. In one sequence, players can choose to activate a collar bomb around a slave-woman's neck, resulting in depictions of blood and gore.

Metroid worked exceptionally well because the act of exploring lends itself to 3d PoV nicely. Mega Man thrives on character design and some high standards of 2d action. I lovebeing proven wrong when fun is involved, making an FPS out Mega Man breaks both if those rad things about the series.
