Fallout: New Vegas' various downloadable adventures have ranged over a wide variety of settings, but they all share one thing in common: They're all solo experiences that, through one contrivance or another, force players to (temporarily) abandon the friends they've made prancing about the Mojave Wasteland.
That might change come Lonesome Road, the game's last planned DLC pack, if achievement descriptions are to be believed. One achievement, titled "ED-Ecated" mentions finding upgrades for ED-E, the hovering eyebot companion available in the main game. Does this mean, finally, that combat-incapable couriers can now count on a helping hand (or laser)?
Besides this important new revelation, the achievements also mention a "signature weapon" for the pack, as well as some story-related stuff I won't spoil here. Hit the jump for a full list.
- ED-Ecated: Found all of ED-E's upgrades in the Divide.
- Condemned to repeat it: Decide the fate of all the Divide dwellers.
- Hometown Hero: Completed Lonesome Road.
- Rocket's Red Glare: Fully upgraded the Divide's signature weapon.
- Warhead Hunter: Detonated all of the warheads in the Divide.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, not all the DLCs are solo. In fact, 2 of them (Dead Money and Honest Hearts) give you the option to go with DLC exclusive companions. In fact 60% of Dead Money is based on those companions...
I think he meant that all of the DLCs have to be entered solo.
The ending of New Vegas is terrible. In fact, it's not even worth following the main quest line to the end.
I'm interested in how Lonesome Road will play out. They've done a great job in building up this feud between the couriers, so hopefully, they'll pull off a great showdown.
@Jay Me: Depends on which of the four major factions you go for and the characters you've helped/destroyed along the way.
The end battle itself lacks some cinematic "oomph" compared to Fallout 3 and it's giant robot assault. It feels a bit empty.
But after that, there is a potentially very difficult boss fight against one or a couple of epic level opponents. But you might avoid it by talking, or using other skills. After that, there are at least 4 major different endings depending on who you allied with. There is also the now traditional voice over recap of the fates of major and minor characters and locations in the game, depending on your actions throughout. So that's pretty satisfying.
Also, ED-E could belong to a certain someone else.
Also, it could pretty easily be a different robot with the same name/model number.
It wouldn't really make any sense for this to be about the ED-E we all know and (mostly) love. He could be destroyed for some people long before Lonesome Road. Of course I could easily be wrong, but I feel like they're going to do something a bit more sneaky here.
The only issue I have with it is the inability to continue roaming the Mojave with all of the ending spoils.
Other than that, I didn't think there was anything in particular that was wrong with any of the four endings.
That's just a rough estimate, btw. I'd love to see someone break it down into serious math.
"Ok ED, for the 100th time we're going to sneak up and"...*plays crazy loud battle music & charges in to die.*
*reloads save*...I hate this fucking robot.
