Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition revealed (Update) photo

Looking to one-up its own Fallout 3 Collector's Edition, Bethesda has announced that it will be shipping a Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition for all platforms in North America.

In the words of Bethesda, the slick packaging will include:

  • Lucky 7 poker chips. Each of the seven poker chips was designed to represent chips from the major casinos found on the New Vegas strip and throughout the Mojave Wasteland.
  • A fully customized Fallout: New Vegas deck of cards. Each card in the pack has been uniquely illustrated to depict characters and factions found within the game. Use the cards to play poker, blackjack or Caravan, an original card game that was created by Obsidian especially for New Vegas!
  • A recreation of the game's highly coveted "Lucky 38" platinum chip.
  • A hardcover graphic novel "All Roads," that tells the story of some of the characters and events that lead up to Fallout: New Vegas. "All Roads" was written by Chris Avellone, the game's creative director, and created in conjunction with Dark Horse Comics.
  • The Making of Fallout: New Vegas DVD. This documentary DVD will contain exclusive video content, including interviews with the developers in which they take you from concept to creation and discuss topics such as story, setting, legacy of the Fallout franchise and more.

Parts of the "Making of" documentary were filmed by a crew led by Electric Playground's Victor Lucas at last month's Bethesda press event in Las Vegas; keep an eye out for the back of my head or something.

No word on pricing or firm release date for Fallout: New Vegas, outside of the vague Fall 2010 release.

[Update: GameStop is listing the package's price as $69.99 for PC, and $79.99 for PlayStation 3 for Xbox 360; Bethesda has confirmed this pricing with us this morning. Thanks, Dyslixec!]

BUT DOES IT HAVE A PIPBOY 3000 CLOCK? DOES IT?!

Anyways, I'm a little saddened by the fact that the New Vegas box is supposed to look all worn out and stuff. It's going to be hard to tell what's legitimately supposed to look worn out from what's actually damaged. The value of the box might drop, or hell it might even increase the more worn out it is.

Man, I just don't know. This game has gotta be a lot better than Fallout 3 for me. I like the direction it's going but after F3 disappointed me I'm cautious.

I better not have all the freeze ups it's bigger brother had. I still refuse to revisit Point Lookout due to that BS.

Oh my. A graphic novel and a deck of cards and poker chips. Hmmmmm....I know I'm getting the game but I just might have to pick this up. Maybe. Let's see a price point first.

Point Lookout has never frozen on me and for me, this been the best game of the generation for me. Still pop it in to explore some more.

Bring on New Vegas.

Not quite as awesome as a Bobblehead and a lunch box, but I'm a Fallout nut, so this is a guaranteed buy.

Crappy CE compared to Fallout 3 CE's lunchbox and bobblehead.

I thought they'd out do the F3s. Looks like I might stick with the regular Ed. Which will save me $ anyway

I'm with the others - the fallout 3 CE was way better. I suppose if you were a fan of the series as a whole, the bobblehead and lunchbox were more appealing. These are very topical, made for a game we haven't played yet.

And I mean "damn it" in the best way possible.

This CE still doesn't look bad compared to Activision's $100 price tag on Starcraft 3 CE. Not to mention their now-standard $60 for the regular version of all PC games.

I can't believe this is still 5 months off though. With my luck it'll come out when I have no time to play it.

@Thedudemjp - E3 is just a few weeks away ;) Remember Fallout 3? There wasn't much shown on Fallout 3 until E3, there they had a huge gameplay blowout shortly before the games launch.

@WastelandTraveler, TheJesusNinja26 - I absolutely love the Fallout Universe and I easily sank more time in to #3 than I did any other game in a long while It just seems to me like Bethesda/Obsidians priorities are a little screwed up at the moment. If they're going to be releasing a huge amount of info at E3 in a month, why not release collector's edition details around the same time when the hype is high rather than right now where all we've seen of the game is a couple of low quality magazine scans, a debut teaser, and a few screenshots. Plus Obsidian sort of has the tendency to pump out good but somewhat mediocre/unfinished games that are part of amazing franchises. So colour me just a little skeptical at the moment, hoping for the best though.

It's amazing how people will get excited about paying $20 extra for a bunch of ostensibly useless junk that costs a penny per unit to produce, but will rage forever about a map pack costing $15.

But anyway, down with Activision! Right guys? Bobby Kotick = bad!

Excited for this game looking better than FO3..

The next one had better be co-op. I am not buying their BS about it supposedly being too expensive to do.
