Fallout 3 'Point Lookout' DLC available on Xbox LIVE photo

Fallout 3’s fourth mini-expansion “Point Lookout” is available for download via Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The content is priced at 800 Microsoft Banana Dollars, not a bad deal for what appears to be a beefier than normal offering: “Point Lookout” will have its own Wasteland-type map, hopefully larger than Bethesda's previous DLC offerings.

In addition to having some exploration options, “Point Lookout” will look different than the nuclear ravaged norm. The downloadable content’s setting is a placed untouched by bombs. So, get ready for some green, folks. Also, mutated hillbillies and possibly anacondas (it is based in a swamp, after all).

Those of you who grabbed this early from GameStop should chime in. Is the DLC worth the purchase? Why or why not?

Dlc begins with a note given to you from thin air. Not as good and intro as the others...

Holy crapola, a change of scenery?! I always felt Fallout 3 was a tad...samey.

I have high hopes for this. Like, Shivering Isles a la Fallout high hopes...that ain't gonna happen, is it?

Just downloaded it, but that recent downtime managed to make me need to recover my Gamertag and corrupted every single piece of content, saves, installed games, Arcade games etc that was linked to it, so I'm currently in Anchorage ammo glitching, wahoo!

I bought my DLC code last week. Downloaded it...but didn't play it. Between Father's Day, being sick, and other various chores, I didn't have much time to play any video games until last night. And I had left my character in the middle of the second Broken Steel quest.

By the time I finished it up, I only had a few minutes to get into Point Lookout. I found the ferry, bought a ticket (I hope you don't need to buy one each time you visit/leave), and took the trip to PL. The ferryman said something about smoke, and I was off on my own...and ended up saving as soon as I set foot on the dock. NyQuil was kicking in. Dammit. So much for getting the DLC early.

Hopefully I'll get into it more tonight.

Someone else download it and let us know if it's broken or not. I think I'm still gun shy given that the last two were so borked on release.

Downloaded it...

Played it...

When I was 90% through defending the Mansion, it Froze in VATS. So since Freezing is a Common Fallout 3 issue, and my 360 had been on for about 6 or 7 hours...I'm not blaming it on Point Lookout.

Im too tired to go back and check to see if it was a PL bug or not...I'll do that tomorrow

Just played a good hour and thirty minutes and i have to admit. Its very very good. I having a blast from what I played so far. I dont want to spoil it... but its a blast. Plus, its a bit tougher, but that could be the fact that I went into the DLC at level 14. If the rest of the DLC is as fun as what I am currently played then its a reccomended buy on my watch.

So, if there were no bombs (and supposedly no radiation), where did the muties come from?

Just got it! Will post opinions on it later. Looking forward to what is sure to be a open and gracious welcome from the mutated, in-bred hillfolk that chose to make a radioactive swamp their home!

So, for people who bought this game at launch and have purchased every piece of DLC, they've spent a hundred bucks on it?
DeusPayne's Avatar

$90 here. Suckers paying $10 more for the 360 version.

And I was able to get in a bunch of time with the new content already today, all bug free. 4th time's a charm... knock on wood.

@dex

If you're me, you've spent far more than that. I bought the regular edition of the game, then bought the Special Edition of the game for another $100, and bought all the DLC. So, I win, only to be superceded by Necros.

@farlander

Well radiation just doesnt go away...all the water is still irradiated so they're inbred and affected by radiation..

Sucks to be them.

Also, I've played a good 2 hours now, and this looks to be the most feature packed DLC of them all, I'd say its #2 Must Get after Broken Steel

Despite the fact that Erogamer went all over this one, I actually liked Anchorage and Broken Steel over it. This felt a lot like Shivering Isles. There's just WAY too much fog in Point Lookout. I can't stand fog.

I felt it was actually miles shorter than they led you to believe, I completed the main storyline in about 2 and a half hours and all the unmarked quests and found all the locations within the next 1 and a half. A bit of a shame since I wasn't even rushing it.
LsTr Of SmG's Avatar

In before anyone says that they said the DLC was 3-4 hours long: they inferred that the actual DLC STORYLINE would be that long, as it was I felt it had the shortest and least interesting storyline. It had a lot of potential and some good moments but overall felt a bit flat and short.
