Fallout 3 'Operation: Anchorage' DLC Achievements revealed photo

Bethesda’s first bit of downloadable content for Fallout 3 is right around the corner. Operation: Anchorage is set to debut on the Xbox 360 and PC on January 27.

As with most new content, Operation: Anchorage has its own set of Achievements. There are four to be exact, but they aren’t exactly thrilling. The guys at Bethesda must have been too tired to mess with funny descriptions or giving players something else to go after other than story-related stuff.

  • Aiding the Outcasts (20) Complete "Aiding the Outcasts"
  • The Guns of Anchorage (20) Complete "The Guns of Anchorage"
  • Paving the Way (20) Complete "Paving the Way"
  • Operation: Anchorage (40) Complete "Operation: Anchorage"

Achievements are great (especially if you’re that guy) but I’m more concerned about the substance of the content they accompany. I hope that my 4-5 hour virtual reality trip to Alaska is going to be worth it.

That's it. I'm buying this game, making a predominantly melee/stealth character, and leveling him to twenty that that I can become a cyborg ninja.

I finally finished Fallout 3 last night, and I must say that though this DLC does indeed seem very interesting, I don't think getting one more quest to do is worth $10. Especially considering there will be two more installments in the months to come. I'll wait until they do a three-in-one deal, instead of coughing up half what I payed for the original game.

Why would the level cap raising DLC be released last? It would get me much more interested to jump back into my saved game with all my badass weapons.

I bought this on PC so I could get the DLC (since I only have the PS3 and the 360). However, since Bethesda are being such pricks about it, I'm just going to keep my $10. If they aren't going to support all platforms equally, they shouldn't have made the PS3 version at all. Not that they will care, because armies of people will still unfortunately be buying this.

And besides this, most of this "DLC" should have been in the original release. $50 bucks (What I paid for PC version) for an intentionally unfinished game to turn around and charge $10 to "unlock" play after the ending is a load of crap.

These achievements have been listed in my game for some time now.

I was checking the descriptions last week when I started replaying it in anticipation of the DLC.

Hello Baldar538.

I would like to invite you to the world of DLC we haven't been around for a very long time. It is understandable if you do not understand how we operate.

Also i would like to introduce you to my friend "Exclusive". See what we do is we pay developers extra money to only make it for our platform. That way we get more people to buy the game for our system.

Baldar538, am I misreading something? You have the PC version, but are complaining about unlocking play after the ending? Aren't there a shitload of mods and stuff that are exclusive to the PC version?

I'm complaining about having to pay extra for stuff that should have been in the initial game.

Actual content: Don't really care, but it could be cool. This is what the DLC should have been.

Play after ending: Should be in a free patch.

Raise level cap: Should also have been in free patch, but could be seen as DLC if they added alot of higher level content, which they aren't.

I have no problem with DLC as far as more content, but the raising of the level cap and play after ending should have just been in a patch not DLC.

I'm mildly with Baldar on this one. I, for one, am not so unhappy with the DLC. That's fine by me, regardless if the content is on the disk or not. The part that gives me pause is the fact that they plan on three DLCs, presumably at $10 a pop, which when added in together, I doubt is worth $30 worth of content (ie: half the game's retail price, if you bought on a console - more than half if you're a PC owner).

You can never really compare DLC price to full retail price though. Maybe you should, maybe you shouldn't, but it never works out as the right percentage, thats just how it is. an FPS map pack is about a tenner, but one map pack is nowhere near a quarter of a game. Just how it is.

Also, Chinese stealth armour! yesssss

@drocinktown: Probably, but I doubt until all three DLC packs are out. I wouldn't be suprised though considering Oblivion has around four different disc releases now I guess (Oblivion, KOTN, SI and GOTY?).

I like the DLC with this since it seems too different to have been part of the regular package. I mean you could argue that it was purposely left out but with Fallout 3 completely contained within that single area of wasteland, it seems like you'd be diluting that experience by inserting a side-story. Again though, the quality of the DLC is what will determine it all. Simply put, people will be happy to pay for good things.

Honestly, I don't think Operation Anchorage would have fitted in the main game. Ergo, I'm not paying a tenner for something that should have been in the game, I'm paying a tenner for added Fallouty goodness.

Anyone know what time it's being released? I live in Europe, so no doubt I'll be in bed by the time I can download it.

Man, not this again.

So would you have been okay waiting for fallout 3 to hit stores in March 2009 just to get the lvl30 cap, new content and play after the end of the game? I doubt it. Just in case you're not clear, it takes time to make and test game content. You can't just waive a magic wand and have it all ready to go. We have these DLC packs because Bethesda has continued to make content after the game released last year. If this "should have been on the disc" the "disc should have not come out yet."

THE PLAY AFTER ENDING FEATURE IS ATTACHED TO CONTENT, dopes. Just letting you play the game after the way the game ends wouldn't make any sense. For those of you who bothered to read any of the official announcements about that new feature, it's tied to content because THEY'RE CHANGING THE END OF THE GAME.

And who says they're not adding high level content? I'm pretty sure I read about new perks for those pushing past level 20.

Moreover, if you don't like it, don't buy it, and certainly don't bitch about not liking it in some blog's comments. Idiot.
