Fallout 3 is half-price on Steam photo

The Steam price of Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG Fallout 3 has been slashed. For what we’re guessing is a limited time, you can purchase the lauded follow-up to the beloved franchise for a mere twenty-five bones. That’s half-price and a spectacular deal, folks. Fallout 3 is a well-supported game with hours upon hours of Wasteland hoofing and violence. Plus, it has zombies (or at least that universe’s equivalent, Ghouls). Zombies equal awesome. ALWAYS.

Listen, we’re all about this deal and this game, obviously. How many of you are still straddling the fence? Was the price holding you back, or is something else? What's it like to be insane?

On a slightly related note, if you're an Achievement whore, the PC version of Fallout 3 has your back. As noted by Giant Bomb fifty billion years ago, all you need to do to get easy Achievements is bring up the console and type "addachievement x" Instead of the "x," put in the number of the Achievement you want and boom, free Achievement.

[Thanks, everyone who sent this in]

I would get it if my computer was able to run it. And I'm pretty sure it can't.

I'm waiting for the 60 dollar bundle version later this year that has all the DLC and the full retail game in it, plus I don't have a PC, and there's no mac version... so yeah.

Call me when they remove SecuROM from the Steam version.

Plus, I just bought ("just" being two months ago) the collector's edition for $60. *hugs his Vault-tec Lunchbox*

Sold. £13.49, bargain. Wouldn't have minded the collectors box but oh well, moving to Japan in a few weeks and doubt I could take it with me anyway.

Checked Steam on my BB on the way home today (I always check to see if FO3's price drops.)

Saw the price drop and came. Bought it as soon as I got home. Downloading as we speak, (33%, fuck!)

@MowDownJoe:
The Steam version never had SecuROM.

The price was holding me back, as I had it on 360 already.

Not anymore. :3

Wait, can I use mods and DLC with the Steam version? Or am I gonna have to wait for the Games For Windows version to go on sale? :(

@ djp3dro: its the same thing gfw and all it really doesn't matter. so yeah go ahead. the only thing steam does is dump the files on your pc just as if you'd installed it from disc.

@Stick:

*rechecks Fallout 3*

Huh... when it came out, I was sure it stated that it also had SecuROM as DRM in addition to Steam, like Crysis currently does.

Ahh, well... I'm still happy with my 360 version.

Very nice. But are there many added features to justify getting it on PC when I just beat it on my 360 like...1 day ago?

I mean: are the mods really that sweet to play it again on my 'puter?

@radiuszero For this price, yes. Tons of shit pedophile anime mods, sure, but a lot of them are just plain cool.

@Radius Zero: I would say yes, but I'm a chronic modder. I can't imagine going back to the vanilla game without my perk packs, weapon tweaks and environmental changes.

There's a motorcycle mod. A fucking ride-able motorcycle. With flamethrowers on it.

DJP3DRO: As with Oblivion on Steam, the only thing that doesn't work is mods that use the Script Extender.

Radius Zero: Yeah some mods really are that sweet. If you cherry pick a bunch of decent mods it can totally change the game (for the better).

I was going to bite on this but after doing a little more research it seems like DLC is released separately, so you'd still have to plunk down a little more cash for the complete game. The GOTY edition will be released in October, and given my current backlog of games I may as well wait until then so I can get it all at once in a package.

If I buy it via steam, can I install it on multiple computers? I'm on my macbook right now and won't be able to access by gaming pc for at least a week...

@Phones: Yup. You can have Steam installed on more than one system.

Also, waiting for the GOTY edition coming out later this year so I get Fallout 3 and all the expansions at the same time.
