Fallout 3 expansions half off on Xbox LIVE Marketplace photo

Disappointingly, Fallout 3 didn't get its own "Horse Armor." Instead, it got some pretty solid expansion packs. If you missed out, here's your chance to pick 'em up -- they're now half off on Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Until March 29, "Operation: Anchorage," "The Pitt," "Broken Steel," "Point Lookout," and "Mothership Zeta" are available for 400 Microsoft points. That's about five bucks a piece in human monies. The catch is that you must be an Xbox LIVE Gold member to get the discounts. Membership has its privileges, I guess.

For those of you who have played all of the expansion packs, if someone were to just buy one, which would you recommend?

I've had a lingering urge to revisit Fallout for some reason, so I think I might grab Broken Steel at least. I hear Point Lookout is pretty kickass, as well.

If it was just one it would have to be Point Lookout, but Im going to break the rules and suggest Broken Steel too as it raises the level cap and would thus make PL a bit easier in the long run.

Thats quite a bargain though, half off anything is always good. Though I would of liked some Dog Armor :-)

I wouldn't get any of them, get the GOTY edition instead. At least then you have something physical to trade in.

I wouldnt get any of them because it's the most boring and over rated game ever. I rented and couldnt be bothered past the 5 hour mark because it was just utter rubbish and completely empty. Im not paying points to add to a game that should have content in it in the first place.
I'll just go back to surpassing my 600 hour mark on oblivion. Now there's a game with replayability. Shame Bethesda are paying less attention to the Elder Scrolls series now, You know, the series that gave them the money to actually MAKE fallout 3.

Here is Shadowiii's ranking of these things.
1. Broken Steel
2. Point Lookout
3. The Pitt
4. Operation: Anchorage (Winterized Power Armor = Awesome)
5. Mothership Zeta (the first 20 minutes are great, until you realize you are just shooting aliens for like 5 hours).

But yeah, I'd get them in that order, meself.

Point Lookout is probably the most fun -- you do get to shoot inbred mutants in the face after all -- but get Broken Steel if you are interested in the level cap increase and expanding the story.

If you want some cool armor and a level cap raise, pick up Broken Steel. If you want the best new environment to visit, Point Lookout. Just ignore the hiccuping framerate.

I agree with Shadowiii completely. Broken Steel and Point Lookout are must-haves, The Pitt and Anchorage are alright, and Mothership Zeta was rather disappointing.

I already got that Broken Steel & Point Lookout expansion pack but I'm very tempted in getting 2 of these. Been saving my ms points though but now seems like the best time to get any of these...

Broken Steel without a doubt. Point Lookout had the second best story. The Pitt would rank 3rd, and Anchorage is my least favorite.

Though after I finished the game with my second character (which included doing The Pitt and Anchorage with this same second character), I restarted the DLC with Broken Steel using my original character. I went through the motions of doing Anchorage with this character but ultimately ended up killing everyone in the Brotherhood of Steel Outcasts since their armor is so freaking cool looking compared to the blue/silver armor that the other BoS soldiers wear.

NINFAN1990 - Bit harsh? But its the opposite with me, I found Oblivion one of the most tedious and boring games ever. In fact it was because of that I didnt get Fallout 3 until I saw it at a mates house, so I guess its just a matter of taste.

If you get Anchorage you can do that first, AND get access to the Heavy Armour perk REALLY early. Oh, and a Gauss Rifle, which when aimed manually is a one hit kill most of the time (and some really cool tech that when stored for later use will come in so frikkin handy).

I would get all of them because it's the most amazing and interesting game ever. I rented and couldnt get enough past the 5 hour mark because it was just fucking fantastic and completely incredible. Im happy paying points to add to a game that has already masses of content in it in the first place.

This is great news, I have 4700 points to spend, and I was going to get all the DLC today anyway. Now I'll save half what I was going to pay! Shweet, means I can get the Mass Effect 2 DLC's.

I just beat Fallout 3 for the first time this weekend. Had a great time and was eager to get to the other 5 new games I've been neglecting... until I read this. DAMN IT. How I have to at least buy Broken Steel and Point Lookout. There go another 20 hours or so...

Broken Steel was cool because it added more to the story (even if what it added was still rather short and abrupt). I just finished Mothership Zeta this weekend. Eh. Got some good new guns, but it was just shooting the same aliens over and over.

If you only get one of these, get Broken Steel. If you get another one, get Point Lookout. Its a nice change of setting from the rest of the game.

Point Lookout is great because it adds a new wasteland area to explore and the enemies change more than some of the other add-ons depending on your level.

The Pitt has an awesome massive steel factory and refinery to explore, but there's not as much reason to go back once you've cleared the main quest and all the sidequests. Though, if you're a melee specialist, it's totally worth it for the new weapons alone.

I'd say go with The Pitt if you're a survival horror fan, and go with Point Lookout if you really love exploring the Wasteland and want a change of pace.

I agree with Shadowiii's list. Though I've got the Pitt ready and waiting (I got the GOTY edition) - I've never got around to playing it. To be honest I think that all the DLC for Fallout had that feeling it could have been longer, then again any DLC I buy feels like that and I have to get in the mindset that they're mostly (read :always:) an add-on than a sequel of sorts.

1. Broken Steel (boosts the level to 30, plus any scenes involving Liberty Prime were more than worth it)
2. Point Lookout (started off slow, but the 'main' story in this was fresh and really interesting, especially Desmond)
3. The Pitt (not played yet, I watched my friend collect ingots (sp?) for 3 days for an achievement, not really my thing)
4. Operation: Anchorage (agree with Shadowiii that Winterized Power Armor = Awesome, also the armour doesn't need repairing, very useful for wandering around Point Lookout miles from anywhere)
5. Mothership Zeta (again I agree, the first 20 minutes were great, aside from giving you the ability to repair weapons when you like (with the alien items) there wasn't really anything in this that felt new or threatening. I felt like there should have been more to find, or at the least some kind of easter eggs but it didn't live up to my expectations).

Broken Steel is pretty much essential, if only because it gives you a proper ending! After that, Point Lookout is very good. The rest.. well, you can skip.

I'm finally going to pick up Mothership Zeta. I had 100% of the achievements until that one came around, and missing those four is bothering the completionist in me.

I would suggest someone buying Point Lookout and Broken Steel. Point Lookup was the best of the DLC they had and Broken Steel just allows you continue playing even after the main storyline is completed which is the main perk in that one.

point lookout because it fucking rocks.

broken steel because of the level cap.

the pit for the silenced/scoped/assault rifle that shoots two round bursts instead of 3... better criticals makes this gun instant death.

anchorage for the chinese stealth armor that works like a steath boy any-time you crouch!

zeta because shooting aliens is hilarious... plus the additional xp get to 30 and the ammunition for the firelance.

If I was to only recommend one, it would either be Point Lookout for the gameplay or Broken Steele just for the functionality of being able to play past the end and get a level-cap raise.

I completely agree, I played oblivion for about 3 hours and was really bored. I was initially reluctant to get fallout but I'm glad I did as it was one of my favorite games 100+ hours and counting

Also, the one that left the greatest impression on me was The Pitt, probably because it was both the darkest and the most artistically awesome. Gathering those steel bars was freaking stupid, but the whole steampunkish molten factory thing mixed with a survival horror vibe was downright fantastic.
However, in terms of raw content, I'll stick with the first two I mentioned (Broken Steel and Point Lookout). They offer the most bang for your buck.
Don't buy Mothership Zeta. Just watch the fantastic trailer like 10 times, and you'll essentially have a better experience.

Broken Steel is easily the best pack. But really, if you love Fallout 3 and don't have the DLC, get them all. They're all incredibly well worth the price. Also, I don't know why anyone who doesn't have the game by now wouldn't just buy the GOTY edition anyway.

I'm the opposite of NINFAN1990...I borrowed Oblivion from a friend and beat the intro dungeon (which was way too long and boring), then walked around for a minute and shut it off. I walked forever and nothing happened. I finally found a city or something and there was nothing to do there. Haven't turned it back on.

I think it's all a matter of which you played first though. I played Fallout 3 first, and my friend who played Oblivion first didn't like Fallout 3.

1. Broken Steel (playing past the end is awesome, as is the level cap)
2. Point Lookout
3. The Pitt
4. Operation Anchorage

Can't comment on Mothership Zeta as I don't have it, but I may get it now since it'll be $5

If you must get one, you should get The Pitt. It was certainly the most interesting. Operation: Anchorage and Mothership Zeta were just boring run-and-gun missions. Broken Steel's main missions weren't very interesting and it added those annoying albino rad scorpions. Point Lookout was full of hillbillys with way-to-high damage resistance.

All the packs were overpriced so I'm glad I only paid for two of them.
