Fallout 3 DLC will be 'several hours,' insert horse armor joke here photo

Bethesda’s VP Pete Hines recently outlined some specifics to Shacknews as to what will be offered as downloadable content for Fallout 3. Instead of going the route of extremely small microtransactions like horse armor or dens to put stuff in, Bethesda is looking towards larger content that involves the player to a greater degree.

We want stuff that's going to be several hours. Not just like a one-off thing, but something like where you can download it and play it for X number of hours. It'll be similar to what we did with Knights of the Nine in Oblivion, where it's like whole new quest lines, new stuff, that kind of thing.

As much as I would like to crack a joke about it, I was one of those guys that downloaded Oblivion’s horse armor and liked it. Sure, the price blew, but at least the horse looked cool, right? Unfortunately for PS3 owners, Mr. Hines already stated that Fallout 3 DLC would only be available for the Xbox 360 and PC.

I'm glad I have a 360 so my games actually have DLC. I love DLC.

Have no intent of purchasing any content add-ons. Have had the game pre-orderd since they opened but meh, dont mind purchasing songs as these dont effect the game world as such, but something like this, going to change the experience so to say. If it comes out around the time I do finish the first run through or out with release, and is a decent price, I may take the plunge but otherwise, meh... And going the PC route for his one, anything even mildly related to FPS can stay off of my consoles...

Why can't people let the horse armor go? They more than made up for it with the rest of the DLC they released for Oblivion. In fact, there really aren't that many games that has had better or more recurring DLC than Oblivion.

Great. No support for we PS3 owners. Damn microsoft and it's ability to throw enough money at anyone to get their way.

yes, hooray. but i paid $499 to play on the ps3. you'll need at least $1500 to play it at similar resolutions with decent framerates. all told i'd rather play it on the pc, but i gave up trying to keep up with system reqs. long ago.

I bought the horse armor too. It was for a lame price, but I seem to remember it being fairly early in the micro transaction era. Heretrix is right, they more than made up for it. Also, the silver armor was bad@ss.

I'm sure it'll be something cool, which is why I'm getting it on the 360 even though I wish I could get it on the triple

If it's anything like the way-too-late GTA4 DLC, I don't think it will make much of a difference to most people. I played Oblivion like no tomorrow, but when I bought the expansion I felt like I was forcing myself to play it and gave up.

@harrmonica at 09/03/2008 11:14:

It isn't that expensive to get a PC up and running able to play fallout 3 at a resolution of 1280x720....

You EASILY could do it for around $500 sans Monitor/TV, in fact for $500 you could probably even play at a higher resolution.

So then, I'll be buying the game on the 360.

I know I say I wont but i will buy the GTA content and get back into it (anyway gives me excuse to get all achievements). The oblivion content on the other hand was PERFECT, litterally a dozen extra locations for low prices, two added quest trees and a new whole area for the expansion it was worth every penny. i bought it all even the tombs, except horse armour which was double and shit.
I mean really Brad, why?
