Fallout 3 DLC Mothership Zeta screens, details announced photo

Space, the final frontier. No voyage here...yet. You're stuck in a mothership hovering above the Capital Wastelands, doing your best to fight your way off before the *gulp* probes.

Well, maybe there isn't really probes in Fallout 3's newest DLC pack, Mothership Zeta. But there is outer space and aliens, and new weapons, like the Alien Atomizer, Alien Disintegrator, and Drone Cannon. And get this: there's Samurai Armor. Nice.

Here's how Bethesda paints the picture:

A strange Alien signal is being broadcast throughout the Capital Wasteland, originating from a crashed UFO. Is it a distress call, or something far more sinister? That question is answered when you find yourself beamed aboard an enormous Alien spacecraft, with only one alternative – to fight your way to the bridge of the ship and secure your escape.

Mothership Zeta will launch on August 3rd for Xbox 360 and Games for Windows Live, priced at 800 Microsoft Points. We have a few hot new (and great-looking) screens from Zeta in our gallery below.

Aliens: you knew they were coming.

Looks amazing. Can't wait. Doesn't sound like it'll be nice and open-ended like Point Lookout, but the concept certainly has me interested.

This is how DLC should be done.

Please tell me the satellite is a weapon and can be used to destroy Megaton. I want as many ways as possible to nuke Megaton.

Sweet, looks like it'll have some nice loot, unlike Point Lookout.

These guys just won't stop making dlc! Maybe they should just save up all these dlc and work them towards making Fallout 4?

I'm not sure how official this is, but Bethesda's facebook person is saying it's the fifth "and final" DLC.

Of course, if this was already announced somewhere and I didn't hear it, just ignore my lack of knowledge. I don't remember seeing it said that it was definitely going to be the last one.

Looks interesting. Maybe this will be the thing to get me back into Fallout. I still haven't even check out Broken Steel.

When the DLC doesn't follow a full arch, I get kind of dissappointed when "Final DLC" is announced. These games engines have so much potential to go through some odd-ball settings, for years even.

I'd probably purchase these "vinette" style DLC episodes for years after even a sequel comes out.

I wonder if your character gets probed before the adventure starts. I mean, getting probed would technically be part of the adventure but taking revenge for getting probed would be the bigger part (unless they use a huge fucking probe.)

Unless you're into being probed. It is a sandbox type game after all.

It's looking cool, but it isn't retro enough, it too futuristic...
*sigh*
I miss the first Fallout's.

PS: But the third is awesome(not as much as the originals of course)

@AHB, they haven't gone away, you know :P

This looks awesome. I'm also REALLY looking forward to getting my hands on some more alien energy cells (though hopefully not too many!), my blaster's running kinda low.

when i finished fallout 3, i thought that perhaps the game was rushed and slightly underdeveloped. the end of the game ruined the entire experience for me, and made replaying it seem more like a pointless exercise in discovering worthless armor and weapons, as the ultimate end goal is now surrounded by a black aura of psychically determined horribleness instead of my initial pre-beating-the-game-somewhat-fulfilled-requirement-for-intelligent-entertainment. whatever mod (what's up with the stupid 'dlc' term, anyway?) alters the ending of the game and opens it up for a few more hours of play still seems to include some pretty ridiculous plot elements, but i'm still playing through it again in hopes that maybe the new content is worth it. however, the more i write about it the less sure i am i want to keep doing it.

mostly because i read shit like this. this mod is the equivalent of stabbing your son to death, then giving him the heimlich, or whatever you do with people who have beens tabbed to death, and punching him in the face for coming back to life, even if the newly living version of him is full of knife wounds and probably won't survive the blood loss he's experiencing.

aliens? what's the point? i can summon up enough zeal in response to this article to add an exclamation point to the sentiment that 'this mod is fucking retarded!'

A bit disappointing if it's all straight up combat. I was hoping for some interactions with other abducted NPCs and side quests aboard the ship. Point Lookout was great in providing lots of new areas to explore and people to meet. Hopefully this isn't just another Operation Anchorage style linear action fest.

It's amazing that Fallout 3 is receiving such awesome DLC. It's too bad that they don't just release it with updates for free, but that's how it works now a days I guess. How long will Fallout 3 be given the DLC treatment?

This looks like a good time. August 3rd will be a busy day in my fallout universe. (Hope there are no bugs when this one is released.)

I also hope this isn't as restrictive as Operation Anchorage. But even that was still kind of fun.

@Phantom Spaceman: You didn't like the weapons? I still use the Backwater Rifle and the Double-Barrel Shotgun. The only problem I see is that every time they start to get worn down I have to go back to Point Lookout for parts.

Oh my God you are all so stupid, THIS IS THE LAST DLC FOR THE FIFTH TIME.

@uepuejq This is the only "silly" DLC. If you want "serious" DLC then obtain the other four and ignore this one. It's not that hard. Stop your bitching.

We've been friends a long time, and this may seem like its coming out of left field. But I just need you to hear it, you don't need to say anything. I love you Bethesda.
