If Tiff's recent preview didn't get you out to your local game shop to reserve Fallout 3, maybe this will. GameStop is listing a pretty packed "Collector's Edition" of the game, which is said to come with:
- Vault Boy Bobblehead: Enjoy your very own Vault Boy with this collector’s item direct from Vault-Tec.
- The Art of Fallout 3: This hardcover book features nearly 100 pages of never-before seen concept art and commentary from Bethesda Game Studios artists.
- The Making of Fallout 3: Get an exclusive, inside look at Bethesda Game Studios and the team behind the game with this special DVD.
- Vault-Tec Lunch Box: The entire package comes in a fully customized metal lunchbox.
All of this comes at $69.99 price point for PC, and $79.99 on both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Bethesda, it seems, knows how to do a collector's edition right -- when Oblivion launched for the PC and Xbox 360, the collector's edition came with some pretty slick extras, including a replica coin, a world map, a sizable "pocket guide," and more.
When I went to Bethesda last year to get our first glimpse of Fallout 3, they gave us the Vault-Tec Lunch Box and Vault Boy Bobblehead, and believe me, it's definitely worth the extra $10. If history repeats itself, these collector's editions will be hard to come by once they're released; even if you're adamant when it comes to not reserving games (you're too cool, you're too cheap, you hate GameStop), you might want to give it some serious thought.

1st? (I wish). That looks tasty, if a bit expensive for someone who never played the old Fallouts but is eager to enjoy this new one.
I normally never spring for collector's editions, but this is mighty tempting.
Holy crap, that's awesome.
But which version will be the best?
That is beyond fantastic. I'll get it just for the bobblehead.
Tight.
This is awesome, now I will reserve it. The bobblehead is worth the extra money. (I want that cola)
hehe great.. :D "nuka cola" -awesome
so.. what will the spec requirements be on pc?
I hope I'm in the near required area :P
I hate when I can't play games with full(60)fps
on high visuals....
crysis I hate you :P
I wonder how many more endings the Collector's edition will have?
shit... now I want some nuka cola :/ ... the kitchen is like miles away.........
This might very well be the first time I ever get the special edition box. It's just too much win.
If it did come with the cola it, it would be quite a puzzle to figure out how to even make that work in packaging xD
@Wexx
with over 500 endings.. I don't think any1 would care for the extra endings...
that is the best collector's edition of any game ever created. I NEED it.
(offtopic)
Ey... is it just me or we haven't heard anything about JT for a long while now... I'm getting worried xD.
The bobblehead looks a bit cheap...
You think if I swing by their office on Monday I can convince them to give up the goods? I could certainly use a shiny new lunchbox for... something.
NICE!
I'm definitely going to place a preorder for this awesomeness.
I'm not big on collectors editions, but I'll bite.
I had to get the collectors addition of Bioshock for Mr. Bubbles. Hopefully Vault Boy's thumb won't break off.
The instant I saw that lunch box I jumped over to Gamestop to preorder the PC Collector's Edition.
Goddamn I can't wait!
ok ....so what do the peeps in the EU do ? ..... gotta looks me a up a limited ed. for the PS3 and its fucked up enough that getting anything out here in Hungary per shipping is like playing a game with the gypsies here... (your bound to lose)
Hey Nick, you fail at math. It's $20 extra, not $10.
Holy shit.. a metal lunch box. They had these when we were kids, Nick!
Seriously though, that's pretty cool. Really.
So tempting...and I've never played Fallout before.
It's amazing. :D
Oh man... I'm still not sure how I feel about what Bethesda is doing with the game, but that is really, really tempting...
ordered this sucker the moment it came up on gamestop! I cant wait! XD
Will happily buy.
That bubble head convinced me.
@Scape
PC, duh! :P
I'm going to go put some money down for this next week!
Buying it for sure.
BRB, mailing my wallet to Bethesda.
Definately got to get that.
Your Nuka Cola looks like stolen bovril!
Interesting way to promote Elder Scrolls: Post Apocalypse...
Me when I first saw the image: =D
Me when I realized it didn't come with the Nuka Cola: =(
But yeah, I still reserved it.
I'm not (yet) a Fallout fan, but this looks too good to ignore. Reserving!
need to reserv
SHIT I JUST SWORE I WOULD NEVER GET A SPECIAL EDITION AGAIN
@ sushi111,
We wont hold it against you if you go back on your word.
So go on, treat yourself. ;)
I know i will!
I had this thing reserved since November last year. Looks to me like I'll be going to Gamestop tomorrow to make it a reservation for the special edition. First GTAIV and now this. What next, special editions for Soul Calibur IV, Brutal Legend, and Force Unleashed? Those are the other games I have on reserve. Add a PS3 on June 12th and I'm going to be a busy. broke man this year.
I'm going to have to toy with the idea of preordering it. I never preorder. At the same time, I'm skeptical of the game (being a fan of the originals, and not enjoying Oblivion, but thought Morrowind was pretty awesome) so I also want to wait and find out if it's worth my money. The lunch box might be pretty sweet, and the bobblehead to a lesser degree, but those two items alone aren't worth $70 to me if the game sucks.
Damn, that's a nice package, but I wasn't even sure about getting this game in the first place, since I knew Oblivion wasn't for me. Oh well, I might pick one of these up for the hell of it.
Still, even if we're getting more in these special editions, I miss the times when they were only $10 more.
Looks pretty sweet :D
Although for me personally that lunchbox needs to have some rocks smashed into it to give it a fallout feel. I mean a nice new shiny box in the fallout world? it doesn't fit.
I guess it would affect its resale value should i ever want to sell it but im not sure i could holy my head up high as i walk into work with a gleaming fallout lunchbox.
Mine will have dried mud plastered on it, bullet scorch marks, sellotape to keep it closed because ive smashed the hell into it.
Thats true fallout.
Not that i know if i can get the collectors edition :/
is it coming out in the UK for the PC?
nice collectors edition, I want it to take my lunch to work! :-)
Seventy bucks?! Man, I can't help but love the crappy dollar, that's less than the price of any normal new PC release, converted to norwegian money. Including shipping across the atlantic ocean, that is.
Guess that'll be one preorder from the US then, if you please.
$80?
That's usually a bit pricey, but the bobblehead and lunchbox are pretty cool
$70 isn't bad. Maybe I'llget it. That lunchbox is pretty sweet.
Done and done!
No where does it say you get the cola though.....
