Anyone else having déjà vu? Certainly everyone here remembers how the launch of "The Pitt" went down only a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, it's looking like more of the same, as "Broken Steel," arguably the most compelling of the Fallout 3 add-ons, has been experiencing some major issues.
This time around, however, it appears as if only PC users are being affected. There are many reports of players who can't even install the content, because an error message never fails to pops up. On the Fallout 3 forums, a developer from Bethesda has left the comment, "We are looking into it."
This whole situation really is tragic. I'm not sure who's to blame -- Bethesda or Games for Windows LIVE -- but I can only hope that a working file gets uploaded to the servers, and fast.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I heard that Achievements are broken on some 360s, if that's any consolation for PC users.
In any case, Bethesda has some of the worst QA track records, right there with Obsidian and early Bioware. To be fair, though, the task Bethesda's QA team faces is monumental given the amount of content, and once the major engine troubles were ironed out of Aurora Engine 2, Neverwinter Nights 2 and its associated expansions were quite stable.
360 users are suffering a bug that prevents Project Purity from activating, and achievement points are not being recorded.
Bethesda reports that the issues have something to do with GfWL's DRM screwing around with everything. For PC users who've got it, I'd recommend that they rip the DLC files out of Games for Windows Live's DRM folders.
The process is well known, so I won't discuss it here (it might be considered piracy), but just rip them out and load them as you might load a mod plug-in, or all the Oblivion PC DLC.
Besides, if you intend to use mods that will incorporate Broken Steel assets (i.e. the ones that actually make Power Armor useful), you'll need to do that anyway.
Fuck Achievements, at least you have a chance at playing a working game.
They all worked.
You had no reason to buy it before this DLC? Really? *shakes head*
"Undoubtedly, though, everyone will blame Bethesda before even waiting for the facts to emerge.
That's kind of true. Oblivion didn't have as much problems as Morrowind or Fallout. In terms of DLC not working at least. Of course it had the problem of coming out at precisely the wrong time. A lot of people who got new computers at that time, even if the computers had the hardware to run Oblivion, were not able to play it very well because of the lack of Vista support. That isn't really Bethesda's fault though.
...
like, I understand certain mods are cool to use, but alot just defeat the purpose of the game. : /
OH HEY. I HEARD YOU LIKED GREEN IN YOUR BLEAK GAME. SO WE PUT TREES FUCKING EVERYWHERE, RUINING THE SPECIALNESS OF ONE OF THE BEST MOMENTS IN THE GAME.

You have to login to it in Fallout, it then transports you out of Fallout, where you have to log into GFW again (?) then click around a bit to get to the Live Store (you can't just go there, because it's impossible to find the 2 PC things on there buried in the 5.7 million Xbox things on there) then you have to BUY MICROSOFTT POINTS in quantaties that are either too much or too little to buy the DLC. When you finally get to the DLC page, you download it, it installs (well done). You then have to restart the game, log into GFW again (otherwise you can't play it). And you can play.
Also playing the Pitt sort of stripped me of all the ammo for all my guns. So now I have a Gauss rifle, but my assloads of ammo that I had have dissapeared.
When Steam came out there was lots and lots of jokes about it and it was terrible. But my god it's fantastic now. GFW should just stop it and Steam should handle all this shit from now on.
