Fail: Ubisoft passes on No More Heroes for PS3, 360 photo

I can't hear you guys over all of the shouting about the reveal of No More Heroes: Hero's Paradise for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This updated version of the once-Wii-exclusive was announced recently for release in Japan, featuring updated high definition graphics and set for release as early as February.

Bad news, though -- looks like it doesn't have a US publisher in Ubisoft, who will publishing No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle for the Wii in 2010.

"Ubisoft will not be publishing either of these versions," a company spokesperson told G4 in regards to the updated PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the original.

Sad news, indeed. That doesn't mean, however, that it won't be coming to North America. Another publisher -- one that likes gamers, I'd imagine -- may pick it up. Cross your fingers.

This is slightly disappointing. Maybe a cool company like Atlus will pick it up. I can dream...right D:

I'd actually give this game a try if it was on a console that didn't force me to use waggle controls for my sword attacks.

I guess this makes sense. This game sold like shit in Japan, so why not re-release it for more popular consoles?

Still...I wanna play it!

Uh, look at the sales. The Wii is still more popular than anything.

As for the news, I wasn't going to pick it up regardless, but this is still really messed up. My faith in Ubisoft is now lower than it was, and that's saying a bit.

Ubisoft is a faggot
Also, the fact that they refused to publish this is proving that ubisoft is doing its hardest to copy activision. Dropping Beyond: Good and Evil was only the start, in my opinion.

The original game sold far better in the West than it did in Japan so it's bound to make it over here. But it's a pity that Ubisoft passed on it since they're probably the biggest publisher that would have done it. I think that Ignition, Xseed or Atlus will bring it over.

I have to agree with Mr Pibb. Atlus/Xseed will do it for sure.

I'm going to propose to atlus, whether or not they take this. No more heroes had a persona 3-ish feel to me and made me happy to own a wii.

Good riddance, since Ubisoft botched the release of the original NMH with a not even official Wii box and black and white manual without the original comic included.

@Everyone saying Atlus

Atlus is great for producing interesting and new titles, but I don't want them publishing this game. I would like to be able to find it on store shelves more than 2 months after the release. I don't really plan on paying 60 dollars for a HD-upgrade of a game, even a very good one, that's over 2 years old. I'll get it once the price drops, but if Atlus publishes, there won't be enough copies to go around long enough for the price to drop.

Atlus USA only handles US localizations, and there is not European Atlus branch, so even if they do localize it whether it comes to Europe would be out of their hands.

You guys should stop thinking that Atlus is going to be the one to publish it. EA is the most likely candidate to pick it up due to the higher budget and their current relationship with publishing another Grasshopper title. Atlus does not take too many risks involving titles with bigger budgets.

I hope Atlus imports it. Apparently, they don't print as many games as other publishers do, that way they manage to make more money on niche games than other companies.

It's unfortunate that Ubisoft is passing this one up but No More Heroes sold very well over here (that's probably why we're getting Desperate Struggle here first) and I'm sure other publishers are going to scramble to pick this game up. The time this game is going to spend in limbo between now and then is going to be agonizing, though.
