Fail: Nintendo's 'Celestial event' = bubble machine photo

Do you remember when we told you about Nintendo's "one of a kind" celestial event that was supposed to happen today? We guessed that Nintendo was going to pull off some cool stunt to promote the new Kirby game. Well, at least the Kirby part was right.

By the way they were talking the other day, I seriously thought Nintendo was going to block out the sun and take us back to the dark ages. Or at least something grand and flashy. But Binge Gamer went to one of the "sighting" locations, Kirby Park in Kingston, PA, only to find three college students running a bubble machine. That's it. No fanfare, just lumps of bubbles laying on the ground.

Nintendo, what were you thinking?

[Thanks, Jim Walker]

Thank god I didn't actually take the day off from work to head to the "celestial event" here in PA. Even though I'm not a huge Kirby fan, having a Nintendo event occur in my neck of the woods made me consider heading out to see what it was about.

Had I gone, you would have been reading about a man going psycho on a couple college students.

Bubbles are cool, but this kinda sucks. I figured they'd do something like they did at the end of Hancock with the moon.

The bubbles-cookie-cutter-slicer is pretty cool, but certainly not something to base a whole large event around.

My God. This makes Nintendo's E3 08 Conference look good.

Nintendo, do yourself a favor and find the guy whose idea it was for this stunt and fire him.

The idea behind this event was to use kirby-shaped bubbles (made of soap and helium) to represent Kirby's ability to fly.

At least the Kirby DS commercial is pretty cool.

Kirby bubbles are cool! Nintendo was going to release the game with or without an event with bubbles shaped like Kirby. I don't know about you but I prefer to live in a world with the Kirby promotional bubbles. Anyone that hates the bubbles obviously has no soul. I feel so sorry for the people that can't just enjoy simple things like this because it's not a new game release announcement.

Nothing for the hardcore gamers? Hardcore gamers are the kind of people that would get excited about a sheet of video game related stickers. The people complaining about what Nintendo's not; isn't even a demographic Nintendo cares about.

All that money and this is what you allot to live events, Nintendo? You should have saved yourselves the trouble and just had an event at the Nintendo World Store.
