Fable III gets an online 'Villager Maker' photo

Tired of farting at the same old villagers? Lionhead and Microsoft have revealed the "Villager Maker" for Fable III, a pre-release tool that will allow you to create your own personalized character to import into the game.

The custom villager will then appear in your game, delivering you a new quest as well as 1,000 gold fortune. But you won't be able to shake the bugger that easy -- he or she will interact with you on your quest to become the ruler of Albion. You'll also be able to save the character as desktop wallpaper, and then but your friends with it on social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

Getting your own villager into the game is a pre-order bonus, and while I know a lot of you folks are dead-set against that kind of stuff, you have to admit that this is a pretty novel concept. You can start toying around with the villager maker (which crashed Firefox on my Mac) right now, so get to it.

Fable 1 = win
Fable 2 = fail
Fable 3 = more hype than game.

"Fable 3 = more hype than game."
... because they haven't released it yet?

Sounds like a neat feature. Will have to try that out when I get home.

Pete's all the additions never contribute to the gameplay or story of the game.

Thats why all the shits in Fable 2 is a fail.Unnecessary small shit all over it yet not one of them contribute to my gameplay in that game.

Linear as shit.Easy as shit.I played Fable 2 for 5 hours and I got so powerful it was fuckin ridiculous. And the whole world of Albion,it was sooo small.I got embarassed when they called it a world of an RPG.Thats sad.

I'd be excited if you had all of the social interaction options for the created NPC as you did a regular vilager. You could pretty much create someone just to impregnate, punish, fart at, etc.

Cool idea, I'll give it a go.

Really, though? 1,000 gold? If the currency system in Fable 3 is anything like that in Fable 2, that equates to me finding that penny on my way through the parking lot that one time. (Don't worry! It was heads up!)

hopefully the girls will be hot this time. fable 2 was ogre city. (yes this matters to me, especially when picking a virtual spouse)

My memory tells me that Fable 2 wasn't very good, but my raptr page tells me I played it for over 100 hours. I should learn not to trust my memory; it's prone to too much persuasion from message boards.

Sounds cool. I also liked Fable 2 more than the original Fable, which is shocking, apparently.

People need to learn what hype means lol. The buzz surrounding Fable 3 is decidedly less than Fable 2s. Having a hand in customising your game like this is neat and genuinely unique to a preorder bonus.

I misread that as "village creator," which would have been 10x cooler.

Missing out on the infamous Fable 1 hype seems to have skewed my perception of the Fable series compared to the rest of the internet. I'm kinda glad actually, I just see the series as a couple fun games while others seem dismissive of any mention of the sequels and still hold a grudge against the series because the original game wasn't accompanied by the second coming of Christ.

That means you're doing it right. I didn't play Fable (or even get an Xbox) until shortly before the 360 came out, so I missed out on most of the hype for the first game, and simply ignored it for the second. And really enjoyed the games, as a result.

Molyneux's games are always entertaining but feel so empty at the same time.

hyakushiki1234:
Fable 1- How exactly was it a win? It delivered on absolutely NONE of its promises. On the day of its release the FAQ still claimed to have a 40 hour story without doing side quests! Fable 1 was fun, but it was all bullshit and following it like I did the game was a huge failure in almost every respect.

Fable 2- Delivered on a lot of what Fable 1 should have, was a much more robust game and aside from the lack of a a on screen map was superior to 1 in almost every way, the only things that sucked were the map and the way you had to hold down the magic button to get to different spells, aside that it was better.

Fable 3- It hasn't really been hyped that much, they've been promoting it about as much as any other game out there. Do you want them to NOT hype their game? Just go around and say "Its a game, you complete quests, they are of indeterminate quality level, things happen and it makes a story, the story is either good or bad, we have features to our game you may or may not like them. Buy our game... or don't."

I mean, really dude, what do you expect.

Fable was win merely for the new take on adventuring and exploration. The story's ending was lame.

Fable 2 I can't really comment on. As soon as I realized everyone I looked at turned purple I quietly removed the disc and returned it to my friend.

If I were a betting man I'd say Fable 3 will be 100% pure purple.
