Fable II's 'Knothole Island' DLC delayed until 'late January' photo

According to an official announcement on the official Xbox website, Fable II’s ‘Knothole Island’ DLC will not be hitting Xbox Live Marketplace until “late January 2009” because of “unexpected technical difficulties.” This marks the second delay of the content that was originally supposed to debut on December 12.

‘Knothole Island’ will introduce players to a new landmass with several new quests, items, properties, and enemies. The source of the problem could be tied into its nature – the developer of the content, Lionhead, were going to put two different versions out for consumers.

The premium version (800 Microsoft Space Dollars) would allow players full freedom with the content. The regular version (free) would restrict players from the vast majority of the ‘Knothole Island’ DLC unless they were with a friend who had purchased the content. One could certainly speculate that getting these two different downloads to work together may have been the source of the problem.

Because of the delay of the content, Microsoft has put a hold on their “Knothole Island Download & Win Sweepstakes” which was intended to put players in a lottery to win decent prizes if they purchased and played the content between December 22 and 23. We were all eagerly awaiting this contest and are severely disturbed that it has been delayed.

Interesting, I can't wait to see if it's worth the money.

Fable 2 was released, what, 2 months ago? Why wasn't this included in the box?

Because it obviously wasn't ready. If it was, it'd be released by now.

Aww. I just beat it for the first time today too. I was looking forward to giving my game even further mileage with this DLC during the holidays.

Oh well, I guess i'll have to go back to kicking chickens for now.

I'm especially disappointed, because I would have had my whole vacation to check this out on my two played to completion characters.

Its good to see them hold something back for quality though. As a QA guy, I guess I can't complain about that, right?

Yes, but let's hope they go for more A, and not as much Q, eh? eh? ah nevermind...

lol anyway (sorry it's late and i'm easily amused at the moment)

I am looking forward to this DLC. I hope it arrives without further adieu and blows us away with awesomeness. Personally I hope it is a touch more difficult than the box game, but if not, oh well it'll be fun to go kill more stuff.

I miss my dog....

@SovietMudkipz: A few reasons, firstly it obviously doesn't fit into the main questline and would be too long for a reasonable sidequest (at least in the context of this game), secondly, as Macca said, if it was ready to ship it'd be out already (these guys WANT to hit the Xmas market) and finally (and perhaps most obviously) to make money. This is a business, not a charity.

It really annoys me, people who would have been perfectly happy with Fable II if they'd never heard of this, but now, hearing that its in development, they want it for free. Gah!

What? They already delayed the announcement of the DLC and now they are delaying again? What's wrong with them?

Still this sounds like quite nice DLC, so it will probably be worth the wait.

Maybe now it will seem less of a rip off.

HA HA I figured as much... Love to get the hype up then cool it off then sell it again. 'Fuck them' just like I said in the last article where this was brought up and said to be sold in December.

Also Eat a Dick Tubatic.... HAHAHA nice zelda book fag!

Damn it, I was amped for the DLC next week... I love the Fable games but so much about this game has been a let down. It started with the limited edition being stripped, then the multiplayer being gimped and now the DLC being at least twice delayed. At least I haven't experienced these big bugs/crashes people bitch about, but still...

It's too bad that they didn't do that with the actual game itself. Maybe the DLC was delayed so that they could pull people off of that to work on the sorely needed patch?

Game might not be out but the achievements are there and waiting to be unlocked.

The collector - acquire all the mystery items in the box of secrets shop, or see another hero do so.

The meteorologist - bring all of knothole island;s weather problems under control, of help another hero do so.

The bibliophile - find all the books detailing the history of knothole island , or help another hero do so.
