Co-op anything is next to impossible to make scary. I've yet to see it work out so far and doubt it will ever be achieved. I can't imagine adding any form of competitive angle will do anything other than kill the atmosphere.
Frankly I don't know why anyone would want to play Fear co-op in the first place. Surely it's a game best served alone with headphones in a dark room.

Co-op kills any atmosphere or emotional attachment anyway. It's a given that co-op isn't meant for story or narrative, it's meant for people who don't care and just want to shoot things together.
They are spending too much time marketing their multiplayer when they should be focusing on the story and campaign. It seem they are the only ones taking their MP seriously and that is not a good sign.
I guess, from the sounds of things, they couldn't work out how to get the characters working together while also having opposing secondary goals. Gee, thanks for wasting a brilliant (and somewhat paranoid) co-op concept.

There are 6 trailers about the storyline. They just announced MP info a few weeks ago, omitting the co-op.

I'm a Fear fan, i'm a co-op fan so this news is great for me. Sure it may take from the creep factor but not enough co-op games out.
putting the "i" in team, great move to make everything fucking competitive, now i can be pissed off in all game modes.
