F.E.A.R 2 banning overturned in Australia photo

Political stupidity gets a slap in the face today as the decision to ban F.E.A.R 2 in Australia has been overturned. Thanks to the country's lack of an 18+ age restriction, Australia's rating board refused to classify the sci-fi shooter. Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has confirmed, however, that an uncut version of the game will indeed appear, rated MA15+.

"We've always believed in the merit of the game as an MA15+ title, and we're pleased that the Review Board saw it our way," stated a WBIE spokesperson.

This is good news for Australian gamers, especially since games like Dark Sector and Fallout 3 have had to edit themselves in order to see release. One day, Australia will catch up with the rest of the developed world and have a ratings board that makes sense, but until that day, it's nice to see little victories such as this.

Translation: "We're glad that the Review Board took our money in exchange for a rating."

Do you really think the ESRB is better?

Well, they let us play games that have mature content so yes, they are better. The idiots are the parents not understanding the ESRB. Australia is a sad place for gamers.

I hate that our government can ban games whenever they want like this, but to be honest, they could have had this one.

the first FEAR sucked.

Nothing to do with the game's merit, Capn Birdseye. It could be a piece of poo on a stick (which the first FEAR very well may have been) and the people should still have the right to buy it.

Fallout 3 was eventually released unedited in Australia, the ratings board only banned an early build in which "Med-X" was called morphine. It reeked of cheap publicity to me, almost as if Bethesda was hoping SOMEBODY would ban it, save them some advertising bank, and they could quickly change it.
FYI American: Nobody here in Australia drinks Fosters. That's the dog piss we export to everyone else.
