Damn Eyepets and Kinectimals. There is something about them that doesn't creep me out, but they make me angry. Is that normal?

My 5 year old daughter LOVES Eyepet. Yeah, it's not exactly the height of game design, but with the help of this game, I'm raising the next generation of gamer, and I think that's pretty damned awesome.
The way those kids are smiling in that header image isn't natural looking at all. I'm mean even if all of the Kinect promo shots have people looking like idiots, at least it seems genuine. What this pic says to me isn't that they are having fun, but rather that they were posed to fit the frame with those Eye Pets. It's kind of an unsell, unless this is also marketed as a child obedience tool.

My 2 y/o loves the Eyepet. And Sony must be on top of their marketing, because as I was scrolling through this article she said "Their are TWO Eyepets! I wanna buy another one." I don't know if my "One is more than enough" statement changed her conviction though.
And no, I'm not intimidated by these things. Their design is pretty consistent with a lot of products targeted at the pre-school demographic.
