EyePet hits this holiday

EyePet hits this holiday photo

It’s official: Sony Computer Entertainment’s EyePet hits this “holiday.”

At a recent demonstration for the odd PlayStation Eye-driven title, Kotaku learned that it was slated to arrive on store shelves at some point during videogame Armageddon. Kotaku was also told it would be sold in two ways: as a sole disc and as part of a bundle with the PlayStation Eye.

This latest and official information runs contrary to previous reports that pegged EyePet’s launch date as October 2nd.

Revealed at Leipzig four billion years ago, EyePet dazzled the crowd with its augmented-reality shenanigans. With the generous help of a PlayStation Eye, EyePet interprets real-world objects -- balls, fingers, schematics, etc., -- and spits them into the game, where a colorful monkey then reacts to whatever is being introduced. We're told the monkey can't build a time machine or cook breakfast, but it's only a matter of time until SCE tackles these miniscule hurdles.

So it's kind of like a backwards Project Natal?

As horrid as this looks for my taste, this game is gonna sell like hotcakes (or it won't because it's not on a "Family Friendly" console).

Also to those idiots who think this is a ripoff of Natal or a backwards Natal, you really need to get some better info. Sony has been doing the camera control thing for a long time. Microsoft just took it and made it a hardware control, the difference is the PS3 acts as the hardware for the Eyetoy. Doesn't matter anyways, because I think the precision of the PS3 wand will beat out the ridiculous body flailing of Natal any day.

So this is what Sony is going to use to prove that the Eye can do what Natal is claiming? Well, I'm fine with that.

Also, did the handbag guy actually come back to fix his links? When does that ever happen?

That this is so fugly I don't even know what to say. I can't imagine that that is going to sell well at all. This is something I could see a parent picking up for a small child for a birthday or holiday, but I don't feel like there are many "eyetoy monkey enthusiast, $399 hardware possessing" children out there excited to play with the Furby Mk. II.

In other news... Milo looks AWESOME!...

Fail.

who is going to buy this crap? This isn't even a game! What the hell do you do with a monkey? How fun is this dumb thing going to be?

It should sell well in households with children under 6

I think it's really cute and all. But WHAT'S the gameplay? Petting a virtual pet is sure to get old real fast...

I know people will try to kill their pet or make it suffer as much as possible...I know I would. Also they will swallow your soul! Destroy them while you can!
