Extra Life/SingSterling: Thanks for all the support so far! photo

We debuted the SingSterling Challenge two days ago and thus far things are going pretty decently! So far we have $632.00 in the bank -- not bad, but not AMAZING either. I know these things usually ramp up the closer we get to deadline but we can do better than that!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated so far, including those outside the Destructoid community. Also, a massive thank you to fellow writers around the Web who have been promoting this. I asked a lot of people to spread the word for me, and while some have not, others have been more than helpful in drumming up support. Big thanks go to:

If you're another blog and have also helped spread the word about Extra Life and the SingSterling Challenge, then please drop me a line at jim @ destructoid.com and I will make sure to throw up a thanks for you in future updates. Also, if you're reading this right now, tell your friends, your family, everybody! If you're a game dev, try and have a whip round. If you raise sheep in a field -- TELL THOSE WOOLY MOTHERF*CKERS! Both myself and Doc at Sarcastic Gamer really do appreciate it.

Remember, every sponsorship you make goes toward helping children with cancer. Give what you can and help to make Extra Life something even more amazing than it is already. We're counting on you. <3

I donated through paypal but it does not seem to have registered.
Maybe we will see a surge when all the paypal donations come in!

Lollifier:

PayPal donations are added by hand, I believe, so my hope is that many donations are backlogged via that method.

Soon you can add NG to that list :P

Come on people! As I said before, $20 won't kill you, but it might kill Jim!

I was trying to donate earlier with my debit card but it said credit card on the form. Does it matter if I use a debit card instead?

@ Sam Spectre
I used my debit as a credit ant it took it. Just use whatever company is on the bottom-right of the card.

@Sam Spectre

I doubt it matters on their end. The only difference with credit and debit is usually on the payer's end, since credit is drawn from a credit line and debit from a checking account.

Yea but I don't have a credit card. Just debit. I've only had it for a few months now and have never used it online so I'm not sure what happens if you use your debit card as credit. Does it charge an extra fee?

"Jim, I'll give you $1000 for the pediatric cancer fund if you promise NOT to sing. I'll give you the check today. Just don't sing, and also stop lying about me. That would be nice." - Jack Thompson, Attorney

Found it in the comments on the texas children's hospital page.

How awesome would that be if that were real? I think he's going to need that money now that he's unemployed.

@Sam Spectre: Nope, you'll be fine -- but the debit card has to be a debit MasterCard or something, not just a regular bank debit card (if it is, you can't use it online). For example, my Citibank debit card is a debit MasterCard, so I can use it for debit or credit anywhere I want.

I would not be shocked if that offer from Jack was real. I know what he's like.

Is there a deadline for this? Because I'm going to be swamped with bills until next month.
