Lost me at jagex, but I kept reading for the sake of transformers.
Lost me again at 'free to play browser based'. Stopped there.

I'll play it, there are a lot of really good free to play games out there... but I don't know if anything Jagex has done qualifies. As long as I can run around as a custom transformer, I'll be happy.
That being said, a free to play browser based game has a lower cost of entry, so at least there will be plenty of people playing.

I used to play Runescape for awhile and to be honest, it wasn't to bad. The only problem was the sheer amount of repetitive grinding for all skills. The quests are excellent, like point-and-click.
Unfortunately they killed the economy and took out PvP and that's when I stopped playing. Apparently is all better now, the only problem now being that there is hardly any high level content compared to an excess of beginner content.
