New free-to-play cover-based third-person shooter
Update: We have an interview!
Like '80s comic books? You're gonna dig this -- Destructoid just received an exclusive look at Zombie Studios' next game: Phantom Army, a free-to-play third-person cover-based shooter with a distinctive art style. As you'll see from the gallery below, the game borrows a page from comics and action figures. One of the dudes totally looks like Beachhead, my favorite character in the best army movie ever. It's like G.I. Joe and Team Fortress 2 bumped uglies.
Details are scarce at this time, but we're told that it runs on the Unreal Engine and is coming to Steam. Gameplay will feature a fluid movement system, allowing players to move through environments quickly to get into the action. Judging from the character customization screen you'll have East and West factions to choose from, and you're gonna be buying some hats. I love me some hats.
Phantom Army comes from the folks that brought you Blacklight: Retribution and Smilegate (creators of CrossFire), so we're stoked to see more. Coming in 2014, keep an eye out for the future launch of www.PhantomArmy.com
