Brian Provinciano's Retro City Rampage is coming out for Xbox Live Arcade this summer. The XBLA version of the game will have widescreen support, a challenge mode, a character creator mode, and video replays, and it now features Mr. Destructoid as a playable character! You'll be able to find and equip the Destructoid helmet, which will give you some special powers -- but that will be revealed a little later.
Not only that, but Destructoid is also a PLAYABLE level! At some point during your quest in Retro City Rampage, you will have to find Jonathan Holmes to get a special item. The quest is simple enough -- that is, until Dr. Von Buttnick steals the special item and goes on a city-wide rampage in the giant Destructoid robot!
Boom! Happy birthday, Destructoid readers. We'll have more on the Destructoid quest in Retro City Rampage soon. Until then, check out both of the videos featuring the Destructoid appearances.
Awesome, about time Mr. Destructoid got into another game! I know Raskulls just came out, but I feel like that game was done for months before it was finally able to get released.
Maybe I'm behind on the news for this, but is this coming to PSN at all? I checked the website and it only says XBLA and WiiWare. It probably isn't, but I'm just in denial D:
Ah man, this better still be coming out for PSN! I'm tired of XBox, the one console of this generation I don't own, getting all these awesome downloadable titles that I can't play...
That's understandable. For me I just want to keep all of my digital-distribution games on one platform. It's just that I've sort of "settled in" and want to preferably keep stuff in one place.
At this point, I just hope the Wii doesn't get screwed out of this game because of something similar to SMB. I'm down one console, I can't lose access to this game on the other!
I'd look forward to this but I'm too busy playing the slew of Kotaku and Joystiq themed games that came out ages ago and definitely exist. Yup, all those ones...
This game keeps getting better and better. Also, whoever is responsible for their Facebook page is doing a fantastic job. I'll buy this on day one and maybe buy it as a gift for some friends.
That sounds/looks fuking awesome, and Holmes is going to be famous, hopefully the power that the helmet gives you is something destructoid related, but I wouldn't know what they could use........cocks maybe.

I'll admit, when EA Sports' Andrew Wilson took to the stage during Microsoft's Xbox One reveal, I tuned out. If memory serves, I used the opportunity to take a much needed trip to the bathroom because I was certain there would be nothing there to hold my interest.
I was wrong. Hopefully, it's not too late for us.more
