Exclusive Club Nintendo item lets you beat up Doc Louis photo

Club Nintendo has finally updated with some significant content for its Platinum and Gold Members who reached the status by the end of June.

For Platinum members is an exclusive WiiWare title, "Little Mac vs. Doc Louis!!", a one-on-one bout between the trainer and the tiny but feisty Punch-Out!! champ. The title is exclusive to Club Nintendo, and as Nintendo puts it the "gift will not be available anywhere else." Alternately, Platinum members have the choice to pick up a replica of Mario's cap, which is not as cool as the WiiWare game because it's a hat that if you'd be ridiculed for wearing out in public. The choice is clear.

Gold members can snatch up a 2010 calendar, with fancy game-related artwork each month. You know, to keep track of what days you should be wearing your Mario hat.

If you're not already a Club Nintendo member then you're out of luck, but consider signing up to snag some of these cool exclusives. Maybe a Luigi hat will be available.

[Thanks, Mike!]

This reminds me of the segments on the Colbert Report when it's for platinum members only, except I care less, because I'm not spending money just to have access to buy a game.

I went with the hat. If the WiiWare game had the option of also receiving a disc with the game on it, I'd be all over it.

Figure I can either hang onto the hat and sell it later, or give it to my kid.

@mikeyed there are no money transactions here. All club nintendo stuff is basically free. Especially these rewards. All you have to do is register the games you already bought (assuming you buy any). It's really win win all around.

I know there's not much I can do about this, but...I want that game, just for novelty value. The fact that it's a WiiWare game pretty much rules out ever being able to buy it for jacked up prices on eBay, though. Stupid Nintendo, rewarded fans directly instead of giving out the rewards to whatever jackass wanted to sell said reward for tons of money to a sap like me.

I chose the hat because I can display it as well as use it for Mario cosplay. I would only play Punch-out vs Doc Louis once or twice.

You'd think an "Elite" member would have the option of selecting either reward(meaning from both elite and gold)...

I haven't decided. The Mario hat probably wouldn't fit my gargantuan head, and I haven't played much of the Wii Punch-Out!! already.

I may decide with a coin flip. D:

I just selected the Hat, it would have been nice if there were pictures of the Doc louis punchout game - to see if was worth getting

I predict the Doc Louis being available for purchase, and probably cheaper than the hat if they eventually sold them both. I mean, think about a one fight game. It would have to be less than five bucks.

Spoilers: Nick Chester is dissing the awesome Mario hat because he wants you suckers to go with the WiiWare game. Then his job of assassinating all the other hat owners one by one will be made much easier. He wants the glory of the Mario hat all to himself.

Hmmmm, as tempting as Doc-Louis's Punch-Out!! is, I think I might go w/ the hat. This'll most likely just sit on my Wii after I play it a few times. Had it been part of the retail version of Punch-Out!!, then it would be more tempting.

Plus I can't help to think in the future, Nintendo will add these to the rewards you can get w/ your Coins.

I'd rather have the hat than this game. I am a huge fan of Punch-Out, but it's only one fight. It can't be THAT amazing. Or hard. I mean, come on. He's Doc Louis. Lil' Mac can almost outrun him even when he's on a bike. All he's good for is asking me if I'm ready for the next challenge and eating chocolate bars when I hit the minus button randomly.
