Has anyone tried out Ben Gray's Swapnote RPG yet? Talk about thinking outside the box! Go brush up on that spark of genius and then come back here.
It might be a little daunting to give this project a spin, especially if you are completely unfamiliar with traditional pen-and-paper role-playing games. To that end, Ben whipped up a brief tutorial video and shared some sample rules and dungeon maps (in the gallery below) to get you off the ground. Hopefully, these clarifications will encourage more people to take a chance.
Actually, I think the real reason Ben made this video was to show off his dice collection. Speaking of dice, you best be playing the Swapnote RPG in a local setting, because I can totally see playing via SpotPass as inviting the same wholesome tactics as a round of BattleShips. Yep, I totally rolled a 20! Don't believe me? Let me send you a photo of my die with the 20 facing up!

This is for the 3ds correct? Very cool. Unfortuantely I don't have a 3ds. If anyone is interested in trying tabletop RPGs in the play by post format, there are a few forums that cater to this. I recommend www.rpol.net because of its active community and relatively easy to use GM toolset.
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
