Sony corporate doesn't have the money to do it. Plain and fucking simple. It's not an issue of "priorities", it's an issue of not having the funds to prioritize *anything*.
Considering that most of their best recent ad campaigns are from external PR groups it makes sense to shed the part that doesn't work in favor of more of what does work. That being said there are obvious internal problems of different Sony divisions being to isolated from one another, but the glimmer of hope in all of this is that when Kaz Hirai was appointed President and CEO of Sony in February he acknowledged it as Sony's biggest problem and the toughest challenge that the company has to overcome. There is obvious deep rooted problems but hopefully more synergy will be encouraged among Sony's divisions
Increasing the price of the PS3 with the Wii U coming out? Stupid. Making a second-generation Vita portable after your first-generation PSP did lackluster business? Stupid. Come out with the Move motion controller but have nearly NO titles worth buying a Move (not to mention the sold-separately Navigation controller to boot) even after two frakkin' years on the market? Stupid. And I'm a PS loyalist, mind you. Even I can see all the piss-poor decisions they've made.
I don't think LBPK will die, instead I'm looking at Playstation All Stars in it's place, if the smash bros comparisons weren't enough, the awful roster made of cheap propaganda it's going to kill it.
Whether or not what he is saying is valid, its never a good idea to trash your former employer in a public forum. You would think a PR guy would know this.

Seriously...I'm only commenting because I feel like the only way to get some value out of the time I lost reading this drivel is to point out what a complete waste of time reading this was.
And for God's sake...whoever cut the renders on the Avengers background you're using SUCKS AT PHOTOSHOP! Seriously, there's no continuity of light from one character to the next.

We do not know how or when these people were hired, or under what sort of negotiated wages and benefits. It is easy to pull out tiny Violins when someone says, “Well that stupid” because they need people like that. However, I am a pessimist and I wonder what these people were earning and what they were doing. They might have been doing a good job, but if you are paying someone twice as much because you hired them when money was flush, it does not make sense to keep them on when belts are tightened everywhere else. I would care more about the people Sony has downsized far lower down the corporate ladder rather than PR executives and they staffs.
This has always been the problem with Sony. But they have made some improvements with their video presentations recently. You get to see the product in detail and at a gamers perspective too, which is a rare, very rare thing these days, when most advertising and promotion seems to lose the product in all all the bullshit story telling.
I have always said that Sony need to learn how to promote games by watching how MS promote Gears of War and Halo series. It is sad to watch a good game like Killzone 3 reach a smaller audience, when that game is damn near flawless. Great game, easily up there with your COD and so on.

Huh, that's funny. I made a whole post highlighting Sony's bad decisions, like coming out with a second handheld despite their first one doing medoocre business, coming out with a motion controller and not beig able to support it with any must-buy games that utilize said controller, and their plan to increase the price of the same console they've been selling for years with the only notable difference being that it's slimmer. But somehow, that post disappeared. Is it upsetting to someone on Dtoid that I'm a PlayStation owner (owned all three generations and a PSP) and even I am pointing out these things?

I can tell you what Sony is trying to do, it's trying to tread water... by feeding itself to the sharks. I guess you can win E3 pressers and still make horrible business decisions. Then again if the people that they fired came up with that "Marcus" PSP advertisement, then maybe they're heading in the right direction after all.

It's all what you get out of your system I suppose I kinda expected a drought so I just purchased a bunch of psp/ps1 that I never finished. As soon as they were unlocked I was playing to my heart's content.. now I may never put my vita down with LBP vita and even MORE games coming down the pipe..

I've known a whole load of people who have worked at Sony (EU) in their time. What is said here certainly bears out - they are experts at laying people off, and it is almost always done without rhyme or apparent reason.
I wish they'd get their act together. They make some pretty strong products, and yet their support, PR etc is atrocious.
