Ex-Bungie developer Christian Allen has claimed that Killzone 2 could "totally be done" on the Xbox 360, despite the natural claims from Guerrilla and Sony that it could not. The now-indie dev states that the 360 and PS3 really aren't all that different, and that KZ2 does nothing that the 360 couldn't handle, if the team behind the game felt like making it work.
"Oh yeah, Killzone 2 could totally be done on 360 if Guerrilla wanted to," Allen told HipHopGamer. "The tech is there, if the team and the publishers were motivated, they could do it, just like Halo could come to PS3 if MS didn’t own it. It really comes down to console exclusivity. The tech differences between the PS3 and the 360 aren’t all that much; it’s really about the delivery of content."
We hear this "could only be done on the PS3" stuff a lot, and I think most of us can smell the corporate bullsh*t when it happens. What do you think? Is Killzone 2 so good looking at the 360 couldn't handle it, or is Mr. Allen on the money when he says it could sit at home on either console? Fanboys, start your engines!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
ps3sucks
It's like those people who look at Dali or Da Vinci and say "Psha, I could do that too. ...if I really wanted to."
In fact, he almost exactly said that same thing. Sure they're Indie, now. But working that long for M$ makes anyone a fanboy.
Also I like the subtle shooping on the eyes thar.
Also, I think it comes down to how much space the game takes on a BluRay disc and if it would be able to transfer over to a dvd without any issues as well as Guerilla agreeing to it. Very doubtful, but not impossible
But continue measuring your penises. I understand.
And on the topic of space, I doubt KZ2 would take up more than one disc. I'll give you Final Fantasy XIII, but KZ2 could fit on one disc.
I want a PS3 already :(
Gears of War 2 = Exibit B
Halo 3 = Exibit C
I'm also pretty sure Resident Evil 5 has zero graphical difference.
He didnt compare Killzone 2 and Halo 3 graphic wise. He just meant that Killzone could be done on the 360 if it wasnt for the exclusivity...just like Halo 3 could be done on the PS3 if it wasnt owned by Microsoft.
No mandatory installing on the 360.
But if you could, then yeah, obviously, you can do it. Would probably look better, xbot handles lighting in a superior fashion.
- Uses the cell processor to it's current limit for all the lighting effects, many graphical filter layers, physics, and other graphical settings
If the game was drastically compressed and lowered in settings - then yeah, it's totally possible...
Sony: Nah uh!
Meanwhile...
Nintendo: It prints money!!
I can do anything better than you
No you can't
Yes I can
No you can't
Yes I can!
HOW DO YOU DARE COMPARE HALO TO KILLZONE 2?
HOWDO YOU GONNA PLAY A 50G BLU RAY GAME IN A POORSHIT DVD DISC READ MICROSHIT??
YOU ARE A FAT AND A SLUT PEDO FATBOY...SORRY YOU EARNED :D
So if it comes over, statistically equal, we'll know for sure that 360 is a match for PS3. Otherwise, it will all just stay speculation.
Actually, 256 players on the battlefield does have something to do with the game's graphics because the more objects you have on the screen, the harder the GPU has to work to render them all.
And lol @ the fanboys.
Ex-Bungie = Bullshit
I'm guessing Ex-Bungie means he's a member of Microsoft's bullshit division.
I heard the Wii version comes in a crate.
Hmm thats a tuffy.

50 gigs? What the fuck is that used for?
IT can be done, but what will be lost in the translation, that's the real question.
There's two main differences when it comes to data:
1- The xbox has 512mb of memory to deal with in any fashion, while the ps3 has 256 times two: 256 for graphics and 256 general purpose. It forces you to work with 256mb max for texture and mesh data (which is why the graphics on ps3 ports may look weaker if it's a very graphics-intensive game). If the mesh stuff isn't your bottleneck though, you're fine.
2- PS3 has bluray. 360 games generally use dual layer dvds while ps3 games typically use single-layer bluray. 8 gigs versus 25'ish. That's a lot more space, though you can't load more stuff than what you can throw into memory. 25 gigs is *huge* and you'd be hardpressed to need this amount of data for a game, unless you have a lot of fmv. 8 gigs is plenty for most productions and whatever extra data that you may have over dvd can probably be shrunk in the name of optimization. Whoever is using all 25 gigs of a bluray disc either hasn't been compressing or cleaning much, or is using a whole lot of fmv, which makes it very easy to split discs.
On topic, both systems have their strengths, just like nVidia and ATI cards. It all comes down to how devoted and talented the developers are, and their access to time, equipment, and cash. Killzone 2 was Sony's love child, it had all three thrown at it and it turned out well.
I also think it was silly of him to bring Halo into the discussion. Halo is a clean imaged game, not graphics intensive. It would have been better suited for him to say "Gears of War" in my opinion.
