The only reason Marvel 2 lasted for 10 years is because the fighting genre went into the dark ages.
If the genre was as popular as it is now there would have been 3 more sequels within the amount of time it took 3 to actually come out.
I don't expect UMVC3 to go more than 2 years without some sort of major update or sequel. That's being optimistic.
Also, that last question in the interview was stupid.

Didn't he say before that Mega Man X was considered, but they felt he didn't belong in the game.... but Phoenix Wright does? What a load of BS. What's Wright gonna do, hit the opponent with a law book?
Cool... I popped in MVC3 the other day and played through the arcade mode and beat Galactus... I hadn't played it in a while and I really didn't have much fun. After the initial joy of finally having a sequel to MVC2, it now feels like a let down every time I play it.
You know what fighting game I got a couple weeks ago that didn't feel like a let down? Mortal Kombat.
