There were a lot of Dtoid'ers at this party. You may spot many familiar faces in this video (maybe even your own), but that's not why I'm saying that everyone is beautiful at the Rhythm Heaven Fever launch party. I'm saying it because it's true. This was a beautiful event. From little kids to attractive ladies to sexy, bronzed silver foxes, this event brought out the best of the the entire human race. Like I said in the review, Rhythm Heaven Fever is a game that really can appeal to everybody, and make anyone feel happy. i think this party proved that sentiment to be true (though I'm sure the free food, booze, and t-shirts didn't hurt).
There was plenty to see at the event, including two fantastic Rhythm Heaven Fever paintings by Iam8bit artists Yoskay Yamamoto and Mari Inuka, hand crafted stuffed animals and sculptures of Rhythm Heaven Fever characters, a Kinect-style Rhythm Heaven Fever dance contest, huge muscles, great music, and much more. It was a unforgettable time, as you'll see for yourself in the video.
This is the first video I've done for Dtoid with a whole new team. I think they did a pretty great job. Thanks again to Lindsay and Tobbii for helping me put this one together.

Meet the rest of the team
I can't believe I missed (it was my roommate's birthday, can't force people to do stuff they don't want) this! I hope there is another event here in LA before I leave where I can meet Mr. Holmes....
Jonathan Holmes Jonathan Holmes that was awesome and all but I need help! I'm discouraged!
The hand on the monkey clock just keeps going around and around in circles and these monkeys keep trying to high five me and I can't even get through the PRACTICE and I eventually got it so there were purple monkeys too and I just could not do it and I spent over 20 minutes as this clock kept going around and around and around and around and the monkeys were screaming at me to high five them and around and around and around and I felt physically ill and around and around can't high five these fucking monkeys oh god oh god oh god...
And I had to skip "Tambourine" too.
I feel like George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life. Since you died in this video now I need you to come back as my guardian angel and show me the way. If this game can make anyone feel happy why is it making me feel ill? Help me Jonathan! I don't want to be like this!
Seriously. Just thinking about that level is actually upsetting me. What is wrong with me?
Awesome video Holmes! You really are the funny and happy slightly older man of dtoid, a willy wonka of sorts or something like that. Toby didd a great job with the video too, way to go Tobi! You've got to steal and throw one of those seal toys or just any rythm heaven toy to europe man ' they are wonderful!
@Grethiwha Dude, I totally feel you. It took me eleven tries until I finally cleared Monkey Watch's perfect challenge; that game is finicky as hell and it annoys me to no end.
But if you need any actual advice, try waiting until you see the arm of the monkey move, then after the beat in which the arm is moved, immediately hit A as you get into the next beat, and go on from there. The offbeat monkeys are far trickier, since they require a split-second reaction after they move their arms. This is especially troublesome when the camera zooms out and you can barely see the movement of the monkeys, but hopefully you'll have gotten the patterns down by then to handle it.
Hopefully that helps you. If not, you could try hitting up GameXplain.
I'm a tad musically challenged. Monkey Watch perfect in 11 tries sounds godly to me. I've tried the hole-in-one (which I feel like I'm really good at) perfect challenge 9 or 12 times probably, and haven't gotten it yet (I got all but the last note on two occasions). :p
I can sorta get the beat of the yellow monkeys in monkey watch, but once I have to do the off-beat monkeys I get totally lost and I lose the beat for the normal monkeys as well. I think I feel better just skipping it. I like the 3rd set of levels much more than the 2nd.
Jonathan Holmes PM'd me about this. I feel special. :)
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
