Quantcast

With all of the big budget titles shown across multiple hotels and one out of the way hangar, I don't know if I should be surprised that I came away most impressed with a PlayStation Network title. An award-winning PC title created by one man and effectively ported over to the PlayStation 3 in three days, no less.

I am, of course, talking about Everyday Shooter, a game which I already half-heartedly raved about last week before falling into a Red Bull-induced coma. This is the same game that, after me demanding he play it, Niero himself has touted as his favorite game of the show.

Now I certainly don't expect you to be able to properly gauge this game's awesomeness by a few screenshots and a video; it's best experienced when you're giving it your full attention, and are fully immersed in the experience. And it would be foolish for me to expect you to want to run out and drop cash on a Playstation 3 just to play Everyday Shooter.

But if there's one thing this demonstrates, it's Sony's dedication and talent for picking up creative and new gaming experiences. It's always been one of their strengths, and I'm glad it's finally rearing its head this generation. With Sony finally doing things right this gen, let's hope that those "other two" can step up their game, and meet the challenge.

it looks slightly disappointing to me, be it that i am a fan of geometry wars, the visuals aren't as crisp as they could be. besides that it has promise

ps, WTF was going on in the spinning level?

@ xrayne446:

The experience isn't really about the visuals as much as it is about the audio, and how it reacts to your actions. It's captivating when you experience it in person.

re: the level -- I don't know. I don't make 'em, I just play these things. :D

Trippy toons, for sure. My reasons for owning a PS# continue to pick up.

To be honest, the downloadable games on PSNetwork seems to be trumping XBLA.

I don't get it. What is so special about this game besides the unique graphical style?

The music and the events on screen seemed to have nothing to do with each other. Isn't that connection supposedly the point of the game?

Color me sad.

And the music was awful. No sound effects either.

If that audio is not actually from the game, then I'll still hold out hope for this one. If not, then this game shall be ignored by me forever. And that means a lot, considering I win at Blasteroids like every single day.

I actually want a PS3 now more for the downloadable games over the retail ones. That game looks (and sounds) like it'd be fun.

I agree with Tron Knotts, the music didn't appear to be changing with the events on screen. Additionally, it seemed as if the bullets were going through some characters while hitting others. I'm hoping it's one of those games you just have to play before you get it and the visuals and sound start to make more sense and have more of a connection. From looking at that video though it just appears to be a mess of stuff happening.

I'm loving Super Stardust HD right now, so I'd be very very happy if this came out and was super fun.

AHH, SMACK MY ASS AND CALL ME JOHNNY CAKES!!!
i didn't have my speakers on the first time i watched this, hence my first misguided disappointed remark, but now that beautiful sound has shown me the light, this game will turn out to be bomb as hell.

IMAGINE MIXING REZ, LUMINES, AND GEOMETRY WARS= EVERYDAY SHOOTER.

can't wait to spend half a grand for this baby!
