Everquest and Everquest II getting expansions photo

So I don't "do" MMOs, but evidently just because the sequel to an MMO comes out does not mean that the original dies out. I suppose that makes sense since people still want to play the original with their original characters. As such, Sony Online Entertainment has just announced at their community address at Fan Faire 2009 that both Everquest and Everquest II will be getting new expansions.

Those that are still trudging around the original Everquest, which has now been around for ten years, will be getting an expansion called "Underfoot." The expansion, which takes its name quite literally, will feature new underground zones for intrepid heroes to explore.

For those rolling around in Everquest II the expansion will be called "Sentinel's Fate" and will increase the level cap to 90 and will allow higher-level players to gain experience by playing older, lower-level areas. Rumors are also buzzing around the web that achievments might be intergated into the game as well. Obviously there will be new content in with it too.

I think it's pretty cool that they're still supporting such an old game. Not only supporting but adding new content. Now that's something you don't hear everyday.

That said, I don't "do" MMO's either.

I'm surprised that the joke about how I don't "do" MMOs but I would "do" her has not yet come up

Not 'doing' her isn't a joke. She looks like she'll completely destroy you.

The original EQ has been adding a new expansion about one and a half each year. I think this is the 15th or 16th expansion. I haven't played in about a year, but back then there was still a pretty healthy player base.

Holy crap, original EQ's up to that many expansions? I wonder how long it'll take WoW to reach that.

Yeah... EQ1 has had several expansions in the time since EQ2 has been out.

I can't tell if that's a bad picture of the EQ girl or if it's an entirely different woman but you can see better pictures of her here

This won't fit but I don't care

EQ2 is so amazingly underrated. Seriously, it's worth checking out.
